Go buy Fallout for the PC. You can probably get it in a pack with both Fallout 1 AND 2 for $20.

They are my all time favorite games and they are huge, Huge, HUGE open-ended RPGs. I bought Fallout in 1998 and I STILL play it. It's kind of like Grand Theft Auto, in that you don't have to do any of the quests if you don't want to. You can just explore and do what ever you want. Slaughter an entire village if you want, then go free some slaves. It's really open-ended. Go to gamefaqs.com and look at the reviews. THERE IS NOT ONE REVIEW THAT IS LOWER THEN 8/10. Most of them are 9 or 10/10. Even the magazines and online gaming sites rated the two Fallout games very high. If you've ever played the Baldur's Gate games, it's the same game makers. They used the Fallout game system to create the Baldur's Gate games.

You don't even need a high powered PC to run them.

Since you're into RPGs (which is my speciality) I would definitely have to recommend a slew of them. You should check out Xenosaga, Final Fantasy X & Final Fantasy X-2, Kingdom Hearts, Wild Arms 1, 2 & 3, Suikoden III (as well as the previous installments) and also any of the previous Final Fantasy games released on the PS (starting from FFVII-FFIX including FFT and the rereleased classics such as Final Fantasy Anthology which includes FFV & FFVI, and Final Fantasy Chronicles which includes FFIV and Chrono Trigger).

I could go on and on but I think I'll stop there for now. Don't know what all RPGs you own that I have named but those are all for the PS/PS2 and are definite must-haves for RPG fans.

I would say definitely any of the final fantasy from 7 up they will keep you busy and there is sooo much on them to do.

First person...hmm...timespliters one and 2 would me my recommendation since there is no end to the way you can play it and you can edit your own levels. I also recommend Judge Dredd Vs Death....great game if you like Judge Dredd

I also just got "SOS the Final Escape" which is an interesting game. The purpose of the game is you on an island which has suffered ahuge earthquake and the purpose ofthe game is to survive....no bad guys no fighting but lots of thinking and working out your next move ....ie how do I rescue teh girl without killing myself.

My brother used to own Baldur's Gate and I played it a bit, wasnt that impressed but I dont think I gave it much of a chance. Morrowind looks more or less the same but please explain the game more if I'm wrong. I havent heard of SOS the Final Escape, sounds like a Myst game to me. I saw a preview of Xenosaga and it looks cool but what it so special about it? I finished Final Fantasy X which makes me want to buy X2 of course I think its a bit expensive right now plus it doesnt look like you can summon anymore(a big final fantasy trait). I've seen a clip for Kingdom Hearts but I dont know if anyone truly recommends it from experience. Dont get me started on Suikoken. I had to sell my 2 games and they were so much fun. Honestly though I've heard that Fallout 1 and 2 are fun but have some problems. Does anyone know if part 2 works on XP?

sry, i cant really answer your question, but if your gonna pick up a ps/psone/pc game.

BattleField: 1942
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue
Guilty Gear (i had to add that one, its just so much fun)
Xenosaga or Xenogears both well rounded rpg's, and up there with the greats (FF7, Lunar, Suikoden) its just a epic.

If you like rpg's AND you like jedi academy then KOTOR (knights of the old republic) will be a garantueed winner for you.

exellent storyline, great voice acting and some of the funniest dialogue I ever encountered.

+ the most jawdropping (in my case literally... this was the first time my jaw dropped in a game) plot twist you'll encounter in a long time.

don't look at walkthroughs... don't read kotor boards... just play the game and enjoy.

I'm thinking about getting a new or used game for either playstation 2 or PC, however I prefer games that last a long time or as long as possible I should say and dont require a cable modem to make the game last longer. I'm into rpg's, strategy, and 1st persons(jedi academy, halo). What do you think is worth buying?

If your into RPG's then I suggest an older game called Baldurs Gate 2, probably the best RPG ever made, with the possible exception of the origional.

Another RPG Elder scrolls 3: Morrowind, a fantastic game.

Stratagy the best one by a significant margin is Medieval Total war, another good game is Dungeon Keeper.

1stPS UT2003, Battle Field 1942, Unreal2.

A lot of the games I've listed are old classics, but are still fantiastically fun.

EDIT: -

I would just like to say that the Final fantacy series is for amatuers.
