Hi everyone. What exactly is required to be saved? The Bible seems to say in many places that the only requirement is to believe in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection from the grave. Some people like to add repentance of your sins to this. But the Bible does not say that repentance of your sins is required for salvation. Please read the following articles from a well respected apologetics site:

What is the way/plan of salvation?

What are the steps to salvation?

What is repentance and is it necessary for salvation?

So, after reading these three short articles, what do you have to say about the matter? Does one have to make a commitment to quit sinning in order to be saved? Or does one simply have to change their mind about Christ and believe in Him? Your answers and input would be greatly appreciated.

Is it really feasible that a person would genuinely believe in Jesus and his atoning death on the cross and not be overcome by gratitude, repentance, and a desire to love God and love others as Christ first loved us? Frankly, I don't see how it is possible for the former to happen without the latter following suit.

Exactly, one will natually follow acceptance of Christ with a change in action/behavior, ie trying not to sin(to put it in basic terms here). Salvation is like walking with a friend, a pastor, and a loved one. Learning from that person, showing that you have learned from that person. Realizing what that person has done for you and showing with great gratitude your thankfulness(in this case by repentance of sin). I hope I make sense. :)

Exekiel 36:26 (Isn't it?). God will change the saved individual giving them a new heart, a new spirit, and putting His Holy Spirit within them and causing them to (repent of sin) walk in His Ways.

So the order is, Believe in your heart, confess with your lips, and you will be saved, (transformed ... conforming over time to the image of Christ).

Thank You Lord!

Repentance and faith go hand in hand - you can't have one without the other.
Repentance without faith is remorse like Judas had.
Faith without repentance is presumption.
Both are gifts of God and are not in anyway meritorious. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for togive repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 5:31 (KJV)

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Mark 1:4 (KJV)
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.Luke 24:47 (KJV)
Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 20:21 (KJV)
