So what you are basically saying is that we need to go on the wisdom and knowledge of man about the things of God? I'll trust the wisdom and knowledge from the spirit before I trust the wisdom and knowledge of man. Lack of physical proof or evidence doesn't mean it is not true, just means that there has not been any found yet.CrownCaster said:LOL! That is what we have been trying to show you. You can believe in magic pixie dust if you want but if the facts show it to be false, then you are believing a lie. Shouldnt you start that out with "i'd like to bear my testimony, I know the church is true, I love my mom and dad, I know gordon is a prophet, blah blah blah? What revelation and was it voted on in the church? But youll just blindly be led to destruction anyway?
What do you use as your measuring stick to know that it is in fact the "Holy Spirit" that is giving you the knowlege you feel you are recieving?ST:DS9 said:So what you are basically saying is that we need to go on the wisdom and knowledge of man about the things of God? Funny, I could say the same about the efforts of non Mormon apologists.happyinhisgrace said:Doc, this all sounds really "informative" but if it is like every other cut and paste from lds apologetic web-sites and books, once you dig into it and do your own research, you find that the lds "apologist" have totally taken source writings out of context to further their own point and in some cases, flat out misrepresented the beliefs, teachings and views of the actual sources they used to prove their points.
So know you have to have some kind of physical evidence to know that God or the Holy Ghost is telling you something?happyinhisgrace said:What do you use as your measuring stick to know that it is in fact the "Holy Spirit" that is giving you the knowlege you feel you are recieving?
Caravacho,Carvacho1 said:I'm just curious....I've seen many MCs ridicule us because we believe something is true because the Holy Ghost has revealed it to us. My question is... How do MCs acknowledge the truthfulness of the Bible? Did they pray about it? I'm just asking because I really don't see any other way that you could be so sure.
Sorry, I did not remember you using that abbreviation in the past.Carvacho1 said:Sorry about that Skylark, I was referring to Mainstream Christians. I tend to abbreviate a lot.
And barry' connection to the mormon church is what? I am familiar with the Biblical record of the early Church and do not need to read a composition by a mormon trying to justify their practices. If you have a place where I can see this type of thing by a known Christian, that I would gladly look at. Thanks.Doc T said:
Try doing a Google search for Barry Bickmore's website. There you will find all kinds of information you are seeking.

But praise be to God that He did not leave us without physical evidence of the things He told us through His word. Since the Bible has mountains of evidence to back up its narrative, why would God have left nothing for us to back up the bom? I thought He was unchanging.ST:DS9 said:So what you are basically saying is that we need to go on the wisdom and knowledge of man about the things of God? Isnt that what your burning bosom amounts to? At least with the evidence to back up the Bible you have something tangible that is not changing from person to person and cannot be attributed to the enemy.pyro457 said:So know you have to have some kind of physical evidence to know that God or the Holy Ghost is telling you something?
The proof of who Jesus is comes from the changes He made in my life. I did not accept Him because I had some deep knowledge of Him but because He was calling me and I was at the end of myself. I did it out of desperation and He was faithful to show me that He accepted my call. Now, it is real nice to be able to find physical evidence also of the things I read about in the pages of Gods word. I have read the bom three times, and not just reading, studying, and I cannot say the same for it and each time I read it, I was left with a nagging suspicion that it was not true. That, I have never felt about the Bible.Carvacho1 said:Well, IMO it's kind of the same thing. If the Bible is true, then Christ is who he claims to be...and if Christ is who he claims to be, then the Bible is true. And I meant both OT and NT. But I see what you're saying, thx for the response. I would also like to hear from some others to see what their response might be.
pyro, what do YOU use as your measuring stick of truth to know that what the Holy Spirit is telling you is really truth from God? I use the Word of God (the Bible), what do you use?pyro457 said:So know you have to have some kind of physical evidence to know that God or the Holy Ghost is telling you something?
I too use the Bible along with The Book of Mormon. I compare the two together and have found, in my opinion, that they are complements of each other.happyinhisgrace said:pyro, what do YOU use as your measuring stick of truth to know that what the Holy Spirit is telling you is really truth from God? Do you just use the 2? The reason I ask is because if you also use the teachings of the lds prophets, the D&C and the PofGP, then that would definitly be conflicting "measuring sticks" for truth as the D&C and PofGP absolutly do not line up with the Bible.pyro457 said:I too use the Bible along with The Book of Mormon. happyinhisgrace said:So, before I comment on the above cut and paste, I need to "dig into it" myself.

I am sorry but I refuse to investigate truth through the pages of farms, fair, or any other mormon source as in my experience, there is only a mormon spin. If you have a link to a Christian source, I would love to read it. Thanks.Doc T said:A member who has done some primary research of Early Chritian documents.
Try checking out the website instead of arguing against something that you have no idea what it is.
Like I said, check out the website. He provides all the information from recognized Christian sources. If you are having trouble finding his website, PM me and I will send it to you.

But the problem is that you aren't trusting the wisdom and knowledge of God....all your thinking and beliefs are done for you through JS or your Prophet or elders. You are not entitled to your own knowledge...you have already been programmed that everything that proves Mormonism is a false teaching is nothing but ANTI. I used to be Mormon, I know!!! Praise the Lord I have been set free from the lies.So what you are basically saying is that we need to go on the wisdom and knowledge of man about the things of God?
