  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I collect the really old ones, the porcelain kind, from back in the 50's and 60's. The real live birds though, I love woodpeckers. I really want to see a cedar waxwing. It seems God always sends a special bird when I am at my lowest. Like one I wanted to see but have not been able to. I wonder what He will send next ? :)

I note a number of figurine collectors among us. Cool.
Yes, Royal Copenhagen & Bing & Grondahl are my favorites..But Meissen as well as Dresden are probably known as the most sought after respectively. I will post a pic of one I have from 1959 that Im about to list on ebay...I also am listing a vase from 1902 with a small pond scene..

I collect Pueblo Indian Pottery.

zia.jpg

This is a Zia water pot that my grandfather picked up in the late 20's in New Mexico. I got it when I was in college and lugged it everywhere using it to hold pencils, etc. (It is about 12" by 10"). It is a wonder it did not get broken. And I just thought it was a neat pot.

Recently I did the research and found a similar one (so similar that it likely was made by the same artisan) on Ebay for over $4000 ! I sent a picture of mine to the person who bought the one on EBay and asked what it is worth. He said it would probably be worth at least $4000 and asked if I wanted to sell it. I told him no.

I now have it insured!

I collect Pueblo Indian Pottery.

I visited a number of the Native Americans on the Santa Clara Reservation and the Pueblo of Pojoaque and enjoyed seeing their technique. The pottery is beautiful and the method they use to create the pottery is ancient. Do you have any storytellers? I brought one back with me. They are BEAUTIFUL imho.

I have a couple of Zia pots from when I lived in ABQ but I could only afford the itty bitty ones.

I mostly collect dust. :D

But seriously, I collect fabric, rubber stamps and I have a few Snowbabies.
