I could swear I made a post on here about my username, but I can't find it ... oh well ... repetion is the mother of ... uh ... anyway ...

.... Tattered ... well it's how I felt when I signed up. I had just finished 18 weeks of chemo thereapy followed by surgery and then radiation therapy ... I was pretty worn out. I'm still a little ragged around the edges and not likely to be young and new again .... and then there's this memory thing ... ;)

nvrbnunloved is a contraction of Never Been Unloved, a song by Michael W Smith, some of the lyrics of which are in my signature. I just love knowing that as well as the fact the God has always known me (Psalm 139), He has always loved me, even before I was Christian, before I was born, even when I was fighting against Him, He has always loved me - I have never been unloved - that is such a powerful statement

Hmmm, never seen this thread before, seeing as how it's an old one that has been ressurected ;) My nick is a combo of 3 parts. "The" and "Man" are pretty much self explanatory. The Man bit is also indicitive of my gender, that being male ;) AJK are my initials :)

Mine is based on an experience I had at the age of 5 or 6.

Background:
I attended Sunday School, but my mom did not.
I live in Canada, but the area I live in would be similar to what you would know as Seattle weather.

Story:
At Sunday school the teacher started into the series on Noah. She told of how people were so bad that God was sorry. She told of how Noah was righteous in God's eyes. She told how all the animals came into the ark along with Noah and his family. She told of how God caused a great flood to come and cover the whole earth in 40 days and 40 nights.
The very next week I went to spend the whole summer with grandma and grandpa. I remember being in the house a lot. Grandpa brought me rose petals to glue onto paper and make crafts. I remember doing a lot of reading and learning about the habits of mice and how to trap them when they are in the walls of the house. I learned how to do things with grandma too. Like how to wash clothes in the wringer washer and how to bake using a wood stove.
Ok, back to the story!
Well it rained every day that summer. It didn't dawn on me till we were heading back to the city after summer was over. It had rained all of July and mom told me that July had 30 days. It had rained all of August and mom told me that August had 31 days. I counted on my fingers and kept some numbers in my head. (I must have been 6 going on 7.) Anyway it was more than 40. I remember staring at the rain and starting to cry. I kept crying. Mom could not stop me from crying. I could not tell her why because she would not understand. After all, she did not go to Sunday School and could not possibly know anything about Noah or the flood. I was sure it was happening again. I cried every day that it rained, even Sunday. My Sunday School teacher asked me why I was crying. I told her and she had to tell me the res tof the story. How God had put the rainbow in the sky as a promise.

From that day forward, I loved rainbows. I would search for the middle of the rainbow so that I could lie down in the rain and praise God for giving the promise. As an adult I have never let go. When life is getting to me, God gives me a rainbow. I see less rainbows now that I have God always with me. Not that he wasn't with me always, just sometimes I did not get it.
