  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does this verse mean?

..... every morning he renders his judgment,
each dawn without fail;
but the unjust knows no shame. (Zephaniah 3:5)

I read this verse this afternoon on the way home. I have been thinking about it since then. Still cannot quite understand it. I suppose those who do morning prayers will understand this better. I have been lax on morning prayers and am going to be diligent on it starting tomorrow so that I can understand this.

Thank you.

Stretching, the unjust do evil and don't at all worry about the consequences of their actions. They do evil one day and presumptuously think because they actually wake up the next, that they got away with what they did...they were not 'judged'...not Divinely zapped overnight. The unjust lack conscience and are not remorseful about their misdeeds, but rather 'glory' in their so-called 'exploits'. Though the unjust may live on, they will get what is Divinely due them. :eek:

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Sister H,
I don't think you stretched. I was thinking in the same line but have to admit not as in depth as you did. Somehow, only vaguely I kind of sensed that there was something more. After reading Galatians that you quoted, my imagination stretched a little further.

As someone rises early in the morning and lifts prayers of thanksgiving and praise, he remembers those who reject the grace of the Lord Jesus. He prays for them at the beginning of a day. But the evil doers continue their evil deeds.

Could the Zephaniah be related to the following verse from Romans?

If your enemies are hungry, feed them;
if they are thirsty, give them something to drink;
for by doing this
you will heap burning coals on their heads. (Romans 12:20)

In response to the earnest prayers of the righteous such as the following:

How long will the land mourn.... (Jerem 12:4)

God lets the sins of the unjust heaped up on their heads? Thereby, rendering judment? To both the just and the unjust?

What are your thoughts, Sister H? (Please consider that I am not a morning prayer, at least on a regular basis)

Edited:
Forgot this: (quote)they actually wake up the next that they got away with what they did (unquote)

Can only answer with more Scriptures:

Psalm 7:8-11 The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins. My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

Psalm 10:4-6 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts. His ways are always prospering; Your judgments are far above, out of his sight...he has said in his heart, "I shall not be moved...I shall never be in adversity."

Deuteronomy 32:3-4 For I proclaim the name of the LORD: Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.

Zephaniah is between Habakkuk and Haggai. KJV is:

yes,I found it-I do feel stupid. My bible says it's:

Jerusalem's citizines of all people, had no excuse for their sins. Jerusalem, where the temple was located, was the religious center of the nation. But even though the people didn't follow God,God was "within" the city, present in the midst of corruption, perserction, and unbelief. No matter how spiritually desolate the world seems. God is here,and He is at work.Ask youself. "What is he doing now,and how can I be part of it?"

Encouraged by the friends here, I have been getting up early for last 2 days to have some prayer time. This is what I have learned so far about

every morning he renders his judgment,
each dawn without fail;

but the unjust knows no shame. (Zephaniah 3:5)

Last night God kept my precarious life safe. In spite of my rebellious plans and thoughts he decided to be merciful to me. He allowed me to live another day which he blessed with a day's portion of grace and mercy.

The sun rising and shining his people is the symbol of the Lord Jesus returning as the King. To those who mourn for justice and righteousness on earth, the rising sun gives the hope of our returning Lord, thereby rewarding them.

Those who rise early in the morning will see this grace and mercy. But those who start the day with evil plans and thoughts miss the grace and mercy, and thus are already judged.

God gives righteous reward to the just every morning without fail.
God gives just judgment to the unjust every morning without fail.

How true is the word of God! Trustworthy are the words that came out of the mouth of God and his Son Jesus! Let all his people be blessed by the words. Amen.
