  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are the verses that's saying that we need to feed our spiritual with God's Word, so the Holy Spirit can communicate with us properly, not our flesh or the devil.
1 Corinthians 2 would be very helpful for you.

Romans 7 speaks of the enmity between the flesh and the spirit. Romans 8 contains a triumphant affirmation of the power of God in the Gospel.

Properly, the Holy Spirit writes love straight into the heart.
Scripture is not required.

1 Peter 2.2 (like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation).
Thank you guys... but this answer almost answer my question 80%, how does the Holy Spirit can use of this? I need an answer because I'll conduct a bible study about listening to the voice of God.

Communion with God happens through prayer. I am not talking about a prayer where we ask God for an answer and he just gives one. He may do that, but it is unlikely. A person needs to pray consistently, and understand the Word of God, be able to teach it, in order to hear from God. The reason is that as the bible says:

Eph 4:11-13 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

We see in these verses that the whole purpose of the Spiritual gifts in the church is to edify the church, strengthen it, and give knowledge of the Son of God.

If a person is a novice, and does not know God's word. God may not immediately use them to speak. Until they come to a knowledge of God's written word, live in obedience to Jesus, and commune with him daily, it is unlikely God will speak to them. The reason is the gifts are to bring people to a knowledge of Jesus.

I mean that the discussion has been about "Holy Communion," the sacrament/ordinance that is also called the Lord's Supper, the Eucharist, and the Sacrament of the Altar.

In your post, you began by saying "Communion with God happens through prayer." And then followed comments about exercising spiritual gifts and bringing people to Christ.

Communion means in its natural sense:

the sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially on a mental or spiritual level.

I was not referring to holy communion. I started with the word communion, for without it a person will not as the poster was asking "hear from God". It is not a mental agreement with scripture that give a person access to God, but a living breathing relationship with God based upon his written word. Where we both mentally agree with it, and live it out.

I know. But the topic here IS about Holy Communion.

You can write whatever you want, but it looked like there was some misunderstanding.

Proverbs 2:1-5

My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

1 Thessalonians 2:13
And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

Galatians 5:16
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 5:17
For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

Hi Aldrin25,

Here are some verses for your reference:

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 (NASB)

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB)

You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:14-15 (NASB)

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:14-17 (NKJV)

Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
1 Timothy 4:13-16 (NKJV)

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 4:4 (NASB)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalms 119:105 (NASB)

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:22-25 (NKJV)

How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. With all my heart I have sought You; do not let me wander from Your commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:9-11 (NASB)

For the overseer must be above reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain, but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.
Titus 1:7-9 (NASB)
