Let me try . .

The scientists, at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, found decreased activity in the frontal lobes, a brain area behind the forehead associated with self-control.

It’s “fascinating because these subjects truly believe that the spirit of God is moving through them and controlling them to speak,” said the university’s Andrew Newberg, one of the researchers.

The “research shows us that these subjects are not in control of the usual language centers during this activity, which is consistent with their description of a lack of intentional control.”

The study appears in the November issue of the journal Psychiatry Research: Neuroimaging.

Wierd!! OK, read the above here.

I remember that, but only in jesting ... and from Carmen's Revival in the Land. Wasn't there something about a Yamaha too? Dunno, I was 8 when I recieved my "prayer language", and I've been told by more than a couple people that it sounds "Arabic" in nature.

Two more interesting personal tongues testimonies:

My wife was raised Southern Baptist and was taught tongues were of the devil.
When we started dating I took her to an AOG church.
A little old lady got up and spoke a message in tongues. Cat started to get a little disturbed, I told her it was ok and that I would explain, She said, “No, you don’t understand, I know” (She had the interpretation) I never had to convince her it was real.

We met a Korean girl at the Bible Collage of Wales whose prayer language is English.

My tongues tend to remain the same - however, this one time, I was at a service and began to pray in tongues.. I noticed it sounded differently but wasn't really sure what was going on. A friend of mine from California was visiting - and she told me afterwards that some of the words I said were chinese. (She is Asian - and knows a bit of Chinese) I believe I was interceding for China that night.

I think my tongues usually sound a little bit like Chinese.. but I don't know of anyone (other than my friend) that could confirm that.

I think they are adapted (by the Holy Spirit) for whatever situation we are praying about.. but that's just my opinion.

What words did you say? Just curious because I speak Chinese.

To answer the OP's question, my speaking in tongues is really my uttering about only three syllables back and forth because I can't seem to say anything else. I don't know if this is a problem or not. Because of this, it's hard to have faith and know that I'm not speaking gibberish?
