• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. There’s a councelor/Pastor I heard say once to ask your soul what is wrong. When I get the feeling you are describing I know its my soul that’s sad. Its usually fear of something, but the answer usually pops up. Sometimes I sing my prayers, it helps the soul release what its feeling.

Farside - feeling numb means you are on an emotional overload. It is like when a motor overheats and just shuts off. It is a built-in defense mechanism to allow us to keep operating when the emotions would otherwise paralyze us.

Good. That helps give expression to those emotions and can lower the level. Be thankful you are able to do that. I cannot.

I just felt like that yesterday. nothing made me feel sad, nothing made me feel good, i was just like you said numb.

Dont know if it would help at all but Charles Spurgeon was considered the "Prince of Preachers" and he suffered badly from the same things.
heres some quotes from him

I'd say feeling numb is like feeling abandoned by somebody who you love but you feel guilty for them abandoning you .

Eliijah felt that way but God provided him with food and let him rest in sleep .
I'd say that I felt that while fasting once 4th or 5th day because flesh was weak and I did not pray .
