What does it mean to trust in Jesus?

Can you imagine how Jesus feels when He hears professing Christians argue against obeying Him? I doubt it makes Him very happy.

It's funny, because the same people who argue against works usually have their own set of rules for what a Christian should and shouldn't do. A real Christian, they say, goes to church every Sunday, pays his tithes, and doesn't drink or use cuss words.

But I guess a real Christian doesn't try to obey Jesus, does He?

Jesus knows the kind of people he died for. He knows that we are sinners and that we fail at perfection. He knows that we are going to make up all kinds of silly rules to "earn" his favor. I'm sure that, in his divine grace, he chuckles at our antics like a parent watching a child do stupid things. Did your mother throw you out of the house when you disobeyed and tell you to never come back? Does your mother have more grace than Jesus?

We need to trust, in the spirit of Proverbs 3 verse 5: "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding".

Who is arguing against obeying? Works are the result of being saved, not the cause.

1 Corinthians 5:6-8 NKJV
[6] Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? [7] Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. [8] Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Jesus is our Passover, Hallelujah! Thank God for Jesus Christ the righteous!

Thank God He was delivered for our offenses and He was raised for our justification. Thank God we are imputed with righteousness as soon as we believe. Thank God our sins are not imputed to us, thank God that we are new creations IN CHRIST! I don't know about you, but this is GOODNEWS! He paid for it all folks.. this is what it means to trust in Jesus. Believe in Him on whom He sent and love Him.. because He loved you first!
