What does it mean "The Son of Man must be lifted up"...?

Does it mean Lifted up at on the cross during his crucifxion, or does it mean that Jesus the man, God in the flesh, must be elevated to the level of being God...?

There is a scripture where Jesus says, "If I be lifted up I will draw al men to me"; it could simply mean lifted up to heaven or it could mean raised to a higher level of existence.

Here are the lyrics to a song,that was sung at the church,that I grew up in. It is entitled,"Lift Him Up".

   For an answer, Jesus gave the key:

   I will draw all men unto Me.”

Galatians 3:13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse FOR us—for it is written,
“Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”—

Jesus, Son of God, Son of Man...the God-Man was "hung" on a "tree".

Mark 15:15
Wishing to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus scourged,
he handed Him over to be crucified.(Roman style: vertical "tree" + horizontal cross bar = CROSS!)

John 19:18...GOLGATHA...the "skull"
There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between.

The "serpent" is SIN!
The "healing" is FORGIVENESS of SIN!

1 Peter 2 (NASB)...substitutionary atonement
18 For Christ also died FOR sins once FOR all,
the just (Jesus) FOR the unjust (Man),
so that He might bring us to God, (RECONCILIATION)
having been put to death in the flesh, (CRUCIFIXION)
but made alive in the spirit; (RESURRECTION + APPEARANCES + ASCENSION)

15) That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Moses made a Brasen Serpent which the Israelites burned incense to.

2 Ki. 18:4
He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

Just more info in order to come up with an understanding.

Lifted up

Sounds like the opposite of what Jesus says people will do to him in the Parable of the Tenants ( Mocked, ridiculed, rejected )

4. that he must be killed and
5. on the third day be raised to life.
