Don't you mean "in-censes"Andrew, have you considered the psalm that says those who make, rely on, or worship idols without senses become like that in the afterlife?

I'm not sure.. I use a good ole KJV, so I'd need a scriptural reference.
...and for the record, in case this is one line of thought, My previous post was stating the tradional view of some protestant denominations/sub-denoms. Not necessarily mine.![]()
Tee hee!![]()
I also was giving a point to consider . i looked it up . Psalm 115 emphasis verses 4-8
I believe that is the earlier version of the creed.I grew up Methodist and the traditional version of the Apostle's Creed reads as follows:
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried

Hahaha descended into death . so which greek word was it in the manuscript?
i'd imagine it meant he went into the grave?
I'll pull that up on the eSword and give it a reread. Haven't read through psalms in a while.
ETA: I see good stuff in 115. I think that's why some denoms specify only those that had kept the faith... so.. would that include Ham, the father of Canaan? Didn't Noah curse him in Gensesis 9:25?
really makes ya think about which Bible people "Kept the faith" eh?
I haven't seen the Apostles Creed in greek. Was the original in greek or latin? IDK. I'm at "work" now, could someone look it up?

Oops, sorry.i was talking about the gospel reference .
Oops, sorry.
Luke 16:22 has ἐτάφη, (etaphe) which is buried. "to celebrate funeral rites, i.e. Inter -- bury." Strongs
Luke 16:23 says Hades, like LLOJ said.
Not quite.
Sheol/hades meant the immediate afterlife, where souls waited until the resurrection.
