?? Why wouldn't Egyptian and Sumerian mythology take after it's originator? The Bible states that satan and a third of the angels were cast down to earth from the eternal dimension God inhabits. Satan is known as the father of lies and is knowledgeable of God and even quotes scripture, so mixing his knowledge with lies would be his forte. Why would it be unimaginable that God's enemies would plant lies anywhere in time that they could? It isn't.
There is much to consider when searching for truth, including our linear confined thinking being trapped in a dimension of time and death.
The Bible tells us of principalities and powers in high places that have power over the air and particular districts and areas of earth. In Genesis, God spoke to Cain and said that sin was at his doorway and sought to enter through him and have power. This dimension is more desireable than the one they are banished to, and we are the only doorways into this one, if we allow them in. Well they have had their time and used men to fulfill their hatred of God throughout time.
Ge 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
I have taken a look at nearly all the literature that seeks to tear down the anchor of hope and truth we have in God's preserved Word, and they manage to attack all possible sides of God's truth, just as any enemy would be expected to do. We are told that we are participants in a war of good and evil that had to be risked and fought in order for choice to be given, and we are also given the complete story from beginning to end in the Bible, as God is not bound to this dimension but sees the beginning and end at the same moment, living outside of time in eternity. We are just now starting to discover the multiple universes, dimensions, and physical properties of time and eternity, and some of this latest knowledge explodes the possibilities for us tounderstand more about the awesome gift we have been given in life and have a chance to live with God when the war is over.
The powers satan has as a being was very powerful before Christ took from him the keys of life and death, but unbelief still allows him to operate until all things are resolved in a final battle over Jerusalem and the Holy land, as we see this happening before our eyes every night on the news.
If your seeking truth, study, in depth, the Bible. The prophecies alone are amazingly accurate, not to mention the portrait of man's condition, of the sin nature, and death. As Daniel and John foretold, a new Israel has appeared in history to lead us into the end times, and the focus of the world has gone back to where it all began and will end with the enemies of God gathering force for final chaos.
I encourage you to seek God with all your heart and strength. I pray that your efforts will lead you to enlightened understanding, not darkened by the lies and pride of satan and the deceived he inspires.

The best and most decietful lie a person can tell is a lie that has a little of the truth mixed in it to confuse people. If satan made it blatently obvious that God was the one and only true God and that satan himself was the devil, no one would fall for him or his ways. He has to decieve. So when the powers of satan created those false relgions and myths, they mixed in a little Christianity to make it seem as if Christianity is the false one or copycat.

I certainly don't see that Christianity has been squeezed or twisted out of any previous religions. The Old Testament is Jewish whereas the New Testament is Christian.
Sumerian and Egyptian theologies were polytheistic which Judaism and Christianity are monotheistic... So, what's the similarity there?
The Sumarians and the Egyptian gods show records in how they created the world, while the God of Abraham "spoke" the world into existence. So, what's the similarity there?
Perhaps, there is a common original source, and that source is God, the Yahweh of the Old Testament text? But that the Sumarians and Egyptians, while developing the written language earlier than the nomadic biblical culture, perhaps they misunderstood the creation account that was the tradtional teaching to the Hebrews and interpreted it as it fit into their own culture? The Egyptians, in particular, were noted for destroying any previous records which were in conflict with the teachings of the current rulers.

We should expect there to be some similarities between the mythology of ancient religions, and the accounts in the Old Testament, because all of the stories/historical events originated from a common group of people. The similarities are due to the scattering that occurred at Babel (Genesis 11:1-9). It is also interesting to note that many ancient cultures have records of men building a huge structure, and the gods scattering them upon the face of the earth.

The Bible says that all men have in common that they know that there is a God in Romans, but in the vainity of their imaginations and unregenerate nature they wind up either worshipping the creature over the Creator or foolishly denying God's existence all together.
A Chris mentioned, there are several commonalities in the cultures of man that show there are some major historical events recorded in common by man. There is even some practice of blood sacrifice, although it reflects ignorance of the truth about the life in the blood given by God, and again is ignorantly and wildly practiced in vainity and evil. The great flood that God's Word tells us about is also another story or event mentioned by many other religions whether regarded as mythological or real by men. It seems that deep speaks to deep among all men, and whether they hold the truth in ignorance, vainity, or righteously depends on their openness to the truth once it is revealed to them. Many men have happily receive the good news upon hearing it, leaving ignorance behind when confronted with truth, but as the Bible tells us many proudly prefer the darkness to the light.
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 ¶ Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
