  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do YOU think?

However, I do use a pendulum to sex the seeds I put in my garden and often for placing eggs unter chooks (fowls)
Do you get an accurate determination of sex this way? How does it work?

This is a more scientific matter as there are also water diviners in Australia.
Water divination (usually called dowsing here in the States) has never been shown to have any reliability.

perhaps... he's speaking of their molecular structure and it's vibrations in indeterminate energy states?

I'm studying Kabbalah and according to the little I know so far...we humans and this universe are in what they call the 1%---and God, the Creator, is in the 99%.

If we try to connect to the Creator, by living a 'sharing for the sake of sharing' kind of life then we connect to the 99%. And that's where some answers come from--as there is no time there, past--present--future are all happening at once. So we can get these flashes and answers if we are connected.

plus isn't a subatomic level where there's not difference between matter and energy? If so, it could explain some of the phenomenon being discussed.
There is, but the difference is radically different then atomic and macroscopics physics. They are, infact, particles, but they still react differently to matter. They are "shared" between the particles able to absorb them, and that pulls together or pushes apart them.

Very interesting Aurora, Thank you for posting.

I don't practice things such as named in the OP. I'm a Christian...and Christians generally believe that these things are not of God. We are instructed to stay away from such practices.

Galatians 5

19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Deuteronomy 18
9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [1 the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

Leviticus 19
31 " 'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God.

Sometimes when I read atheists reject a concept as fake, and also mock it as fiction, I can't help but pity them for their arrogance.

They are a sad mockery on the concept of rational thinking with a strong emphasis on thinking.

If someone believes something is a fake, he should have the decency to add these 4 letters IMHO, or prove his claim that something is a fake.

Man has a mind it has a choice.

The atheist might consider his physical body is real.

But I consider perceieved reality is incomplete or even misleading.

Is it my mind's fault to think like that?

Perceived reality is incomplete and misleading. Very powerful words! Are we equipped to experience the universe or only one small and narrow aspect of it? Is that as it should be?

I stopped practicing divination for a long time because I saw things that were true or became true. To see something rushing headlong at you or at someone you know is like standing in the path of a hurricane. It can be terrifying. Even if the thing you see is not that consequential still seeing it at all is learning that reality is not and has never been what you always assumed.

It was quite a while before I felt it might be worth seeing the hurricane's approach in order to find a way to avoid it or to weather it.

They exist. However, they aren't the awesome super-powers that popular imagery and the X-Men would have you believe.

XxAuroraxX said:
also what's your take on tarot cards, runes and pendulums?
Great tools, if used properly. Unfortunately, the popular conception has reduced them to "fortune telling" devices.

XxAuroraxX said:
sent from god? fake and a waste of time? satan's tools? please explain why you feel/ believe the way you do.
Neither. They are natural, innate abilities (or in the case of systems of divination, tools meant to develop and tap into those natural, innate abilities).

My reasons for believing this? Personal experience and my theological views of the world.

All the things listed in the OP are apparently nonsense. I say this because there's no evidence to the contrary. People often make grand claims of occultic power, but why can't they prove it? Seems that something like divination could stand up to the scrutiny of science if it really works, but alas, it hasn't as yet.

I think most of these claims are merely the result of a "skinner box" type situation.

Well, pendulums swing back and forth. :)

That's all I'm convinced of on this subject.

IMO, Taoism is apparently nonsense. There is no evidence to the contrary.

Does this feel like hurting you?

If so, try to rephrase your words.

No, it doesn't hurt me. Philosophical taoism makes no extraordinary claims, but rather is an observance of the reality of nature's way.

Does it hurt you to be confronted with the harsh reality that occultism very likely isn't real? Are we to seek for genuine truth or allow ourselves to be decieved by delusion? I think the answer to that should be obvious.
