CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

if you hang around in this forum, you'll soon learn that we all like secular bands. it's often debated as to what christians should listen to, where to draw the line, etc.avril_lavigne said:

our countless debates and threads show that christians have different convictions. i know that sounds cheap, but when you get down to it, it's true.
so i guess the question for you is... how do you feel about avril lavigne? how do you think God feels about you listening to avril?
there's christians on this forum who will tell you that it's ok to listen to marilyn manson, and there's some who come in here and say that all secular music leads to hell.
it's up to you and God.

As for me I don't like her music as much as other bands, but I can't say that you can't listen to her music...

Just listening to and liking Avril Lavigne and/or her music is not wrong. (in my opinion)
What would be wrong is if you put Avril before God.
