As a fellow Brit, i can sure agree with that![Alan] said:Nice
I have not seen snow for ages lol
There are some nice elements to this photo, and there are some things that I think would improve it. I like the juxtaposition between the snow, the fence, the fall colors, the mountain background, and the moody sky.BarbaraJean said:I took this photo on October 16th in the mountains of West Virginia.
Come up to the highlands - snow can easily remain until the depth of summer. Even on very warm years you can find a few large snow patches at the summit of Ben Nevis - there is something about going for a walk on a warm sunny day and having a roll about in a snow patch too.ukok said:As a fellow Brit, i can sure agree with that!
My kids and i keep wishing for a White Christmas each year..it rarely happens! And when we get snow anytime it only stays white for a short while
Totally understand that the situation sometimes dictates what we can do. It is surprising, though, how much perspective can change by just moving a foot or two in any direction. In this case, I wasn't there, but something to try next time (if you go there again) is to take a few steps to the left, and try to frame the picture with a less prominent green tree (I agree to not having road sign), and maybe a touch on the zoom (but keep the foreground fence). If there happens to be a green tree to the right at about the same distance, you could use both trees to "frame" the scene, and provide focus on the main subject. The fence and sky would further frame the beautifully colored leaves and mountains.BarbaraJean said:Piano Player, thanks for the tips, but... I couldn't go any further to the right. There was a road sign there. Also, I was in a hurry. I was following the church van and had pulled over so they got way ahead of me.
Absolutely not! That's why I posted it here. Oh, and to get some compliments too.Piano Player said:I hope you are not defensive about a little artistic suggestion. I know I found it invaluable when I was first starting out. It is a good picture. I just think you could push yourself to do better.
