Now, here are my own thoughts:
I believe in laughter and having a sense of humor. There is nothing wrong with it, as it has been said that "laughter is good medicine". Of course, there is the Scripture in Ephesians 5 regarding the foolish jesting, but I really don't think it is saying a Christian can never joke around at all. The key word is
foolish, which tells me that it is okay to joke, but it all depends on what we joke about, our attitude/heart, and knowing our limits. And it also says in Ecclesiastes 3:4 that there is "a time to weep and a time to laugh" and "a time to mourn and a time to dance". There should be a healthy balance of seriousness and laughter in our lives.
I cannot find it on Youtube anywhere, but the Heritage Singers had a song out a long time ago called
Jesus Loves in which there is a line that goes something like "Jesus loves - bubbling brooks - funny books - and silly songs, too." Now, what's not to like about that?!
