I stayed in that infamous hotel in New Orleans a few years back.

New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary now owns it, and it has a gate on it now!

Anyway, Bro. Jimbo needs what every Christian needs...

a revelation of Jesus.

I defintely don't trust him . Anyone who desires to be a leader over people but refuses to accept the decisions of leadership themselves is suspect . I understand that many do trust him . As long as they are satisfied , that's good .

I would have to pretty much agree with what NW has stated. He has shown what his colors really are. And I wonder if he would still be able to submit to the AG's authority and be reinstated into the fellowship?

I do not know a thing about Jimmy Swaggart and can only base whatever judgments I have about him based on superficial (outward) appearance or on what I choose to believe in the media. He may be, at heart, a very nice man.

On the other hand, as for the attitude he chooses to portrays on the radio/TV – it’s hateful and it stinks.

Anyhow, I think I’ll pass on this thread.

I don't think it's a matter of what we "think" of someone, but a matter of how Jesus tells us how we should act:

Matthew 5:7
Matthew 7:1-5
Matthew 18:21-35
Ephesians 4:30-32
Colossians 3:12,13
James 2:13

Your Brother in Christ,

Michael
okay, too points. Jimmy Swaggart shows no mercy or forgiveness to those who he has decided aren't as holy as he is, and it's not unforgiveness to identify a wolf in sheeps clothing to the other sheep.

1 Peter 3:9
Romans 12:21
1 John 2:6

Even if he is a "wolf in sheeps clothing," are we suppossed to persecute him? Should we repay him with evil as Peter says? The point that I am making is that we are not his judges. We as Christians should do the right thing. Being a Christian I find that we are more judgemental than the non-Christians, it's ironic.

Your Brother in Christ,

Michael

I disagree with your application of these scriptures in this case. I'm not persecuting the guy. I actually feel bad for him. I don't believe he will do so well when we face the Lord, not that I think he is destined for Hell, but I think that he will make it as one passing through the fire. One thing I am sure of is that anyone following his teachings will be led down a wrong path. Not a slam, just a warning.

He condemns other Christians for obeying God's calling on them. I have to wonder how many Christians will never be able to give themselves fully to God because they have been led to believe that their gifts are evil by guys like Swaggart.

Michael's point being that we should constantly bear the Character of Christ (the Fruit of the Spirit) despite the BEHAVIOR of both non-Christians and Christians.

Besides, what we do or say, has not the power to change anyone. The Holy Spirit convicts. When we attempt to convict, it actually becomes condemnation.

Cautious - yes.
Repaying evil with evil - no.

Sorry to be offensive to you enoch son. I'm not drawn to the man's ministry at all and only God can judge his heart. So whether I like him or not, it's not up to me. There are a lot of people who don't like me either, but I'll be in heaven with them whether they like it or not. I'm sorry if I sounded like I was judging him. I'm certaintly not in position to do that. I don't feel that I was but I suppose there is some flesh in my response. :(
