What do you think about this lyric by Nas?

What are your thoughts on that piece of writing?

I don't understand the crossed out parts. If I ignore that and read those words, my thought is that "someone" is asking for Gods blessing and not His curse. So I guess my thought is..... Come out from among them and be blessed. Don't remain "hood", but become transformed

I suppose he is implying that God loves the "hood" (colloquial description of stormy, crime-prone neighbourhoods in the United States) - in spite of their unfortunate lifestyle and possible participation in criminal activities. He uses the example of the "crook" next to Jesus on the cross to show that God's/Christ's grace extends even to the condemned, and so who are you to judge (or curse) others on account of their backgrounds or perceived wrongdoings?

Bless do not curse (judge) anyone no matter what, for the Lord loves us all regardless.

The worlds musical artists and pop singers will never encourage your spirit or lift you up in the things of God. I consider almost ALL pop/ secular music to be nothing more than the prophets of the world. I don't listen to it, and I don't really want to hear what they have to say. "Be still and know that I am God"
