I'm not sure how to say this, I really don't mean to come across harshly. I'm just going to come out with it because I know the power in it.

Get up and say something that will bless the Lord and make the devil flee. If your brain is too groggy in the a.m., plan it the night before. Purpose in your heart what you will say to honor and glorify the Lord. Don't be swayed by your feelings but determine where you will go.

Begin by choosing a scripture or two and have it ready for when your eyes flutter open. Now, put it in your mouth. Say it.

Your day will be so much better. You will be on the course He has for you.

I challenge any one of you to do this. Then come back after a few days, or several, and let's talk about it. I want to hear what the Lord will do!

Cindy you're such a blessing wherever you go, thanks for the tip.

I'm going to try this. I hadn't though about it until stumbling into this thread, but I don't really start the day by speaking, and maybe that's where the enemy has been gaining access so easily to torment me, right at the start of the day when I'm vulnerable and easy prey.

When I wake up I always take a cup of tea back to bed then write out some scriptures as I read them through - it helps me focus on and receive it - and often I speak it under my breath as I write.

I am going to plan the day before from now on - not for all my reading, but for the first phrase I look at each day - to make sure that the first thing into my spirit and out of my mouth is encouraging to me and honouring the Lord.

Seems like this might be a good way to prime the pump for a positive outlook - whop the devil on the head before he even notices I've woken up!

For tomorrow...

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blamelss in His sight."
Eph. 1:3,4

Right, that's on a sticky note on the front of my Bible so I don't forget!
I'll do another each day and let you know how I get on soon.

Well, my alarm clock is actually set on playing a CD from Casting Crown. So it is worshipping songs that wake me up. Later, I usually sing christian music or hymns under the shower.

That's the way! I'm seeing not many do what you do.

Oooh girl, you've got me grinning from ear to ear! :D

This is what I do with scriptures like that. But this is just me, you do whatever is in our heart. I form into a prayer, something I would say to the Lord upon arising, like this:

I praise You, Father, my God! I praise You, Jesus! Thank You for blessing me with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. Today I'm blessed in Christ Jesus. Thank You for choosing me before the foundation of the world. Through Christ in me I will walk holy this day, pleasing in Your sight. I thank You that in Christ Jesus I am blameless before You.
