The guy here in San Diego with the plane crash, I told my husband last night that he was like a modern-day Job. He literally lost everything -- his house burned to the ground along with all his possessions, he lost his wife, his two daughters (one of which was only a few weeks old), his mother-in-law. He lost it all, and still on the news last night he was praising God, talking about praying for the pilot, praying that the pilot would not suffer any feelings of guilt over this, that he did not blame him at all, that he knew he would see his family again and that God was taking care of them now, etc. His pastors were interviewed talking about his faith getting him through this.
What a horribly random thing to have happen. A military plane crashes into your house and kills your whole family. Yet this guy's faith and compassion for the pilot was shining through. I don't know why God allowed this to happen, but I know the Bible says that God works all things - good and bad - HE works all things for our good and his glory. So whether this was some random thing or part of God's plan, God will do something good with it for this man, somehow. If nothing else, his faith demonstrated through this tragedy will be an inspiration to others.
I wish I had better answers for why, but all I can do is trust that there's a reason and God knows what it is.
