I notice when a vendor gets a contract with Pepsi, they usually have the "bad" ginger ale and zero selection of anything I like. So I tend to like Coca cola, though I don't drink caffeinated beverages anymore.

For mixed drinks, like Rum and Coke, I prefer Coke. For plain refreshment or with food, Pepsi, by far.

I'm a missionary kid. We called it all Coke, too. There were many kinds of Coke, including Pepsi, 7-UP etc. I remember how strange it sounded to me, running into people who talked about Pop, Soda, and so on. But I gave it all up when I came to the States and tasted Mountain Dew and Dr Pepper. I called it whatever it took!

But now, the Coke I drink is just Pepsi, for the most part. But I will confess, and may God forgive me, I still remember with longing the taste of those 7 oz glass bottles of Coca-Cola, back in the 50s and 60s. I haven't had that taste again, even in the "Classic Coke" in glass bottles, since maybe the early 70s at the latest.
