I bought one of these hollow balls with holes we can fill with dog pellets. I feel it every morning and it usually keeps my dog busy 20-30 minutes total in a few episodes to get it all out.

I also give him leftovers. I've been giving him a wide variety of food since he's a puppy and we never had any kind of problem with it. I keep him active with long walks and plenty of play time (He's a 15 pounds westie who thinks of himself as a pony and loves to pretend he's pulling me in my wheelchair) and at three years old he's quite fit and muscular.

I taught him to beg for food by laying down and being silent, so he has excellent table manners when the humans are having their meals. Except when carrots or apples are involved, in which case he'll try to get our attention by piling up all his toys at our feet.

His favorite drink is vanilla-flavored soy milk.

My puppy and adult dog are on Nutro Ultra and my senior dog on Nutro natural choice senior support system.

Expensive foods, but well worth it. Ultra is holistic. But none of the three have corn, byproducts or preservatives. Their coats are amazing :)

They also get treats like some cooked chicken, carrots, broccoli, melon, peach (but not the pits), green beans, raw beef knuckle bones, buffalo/bison knuckle bones, and yogurt every once in a while as well. I'm sure there's more that they get that i'm not mentioning besides regular dog treats.

Oh, sometimes I bake them special peanut butter dog cookies too, they love it :p

My dog was fed mostly Lamb and Rice kibble because of her allergies (one was likely corn or wheat, ingredients in lots of dog foods), but she also had lots of good leftovers - not junk, but meat and vegetables. Two things dogs cannot eat are chocolate and raisins/grapes, as both are toxic to dogs.

Unfortunately, the stuff sold in grocery stores and pet stores is not nutritionally sound at all. Their meat sources are by meat by-products. Dogs are carnivores, so why are these kibbles full of low-quality, garbage grains? I have had pets (cats) who were fed hese garbage foods, and they've paid the price health wise. I completely regret ever giving them Science Diet. The money I've saved by feeding them a low-quality food... well, it has absolutely been offset by the obscene vet bills for renal failure and diabetes care.

Here's 2 places for information as to what is good to feed and what really is in dog food. What's Really in Pet Food and Dog Food Analysis

I feed my Dog, "Solid Gold" dog food. I used to feed them "Timberwolf" but that brand is only available in a very limited number of states.

I fed them this, because my baby Solar had food allergies, and could not eat normal dog food with out breaking out into bumps and puffy face. I even had to get special dog treats for him (Can't remember their name).

Luna is running just fine on begging strips and "T"-bonz for treats, when I get the chance I get a raw bone from the butcher for Luna, which she loves, and we still feed her Solid Gold, because it is just good food (And table Scraps), as such, if we give her junkie treat, it won't be the end of the world.

I have talked with people that feed their dogs B.A.R.F. (Bones and Raw Food), which they claim is the best diet that a dog can have, they just toss them the raw chicken leg or what have you and the dog eats it up, bones and all, given that raw bone does not shatter like cooked bone, the bones will not pierce or damage their stomach or intestines, so this is good for them. However one lady I was talking to (Pit Bull Gathering in 2005), admitted that she herself was vegan, but, that dogs are carnivores, so it was a twist for her to have to play with the raw meat for the dog, but not willing to touch it for herself.

What we will do for the little babies that we love.

God Bless

Raw is deffinitly the best diet you can have a dog on.

Although there's a bit more to it than just tossing the dog a chicken leg twice a day. You have to weigh the right amout out. You have to be careful w/ samonella if you leave it out on a counter or table to thaw. It takes alot more preperation than just measuring out some kibble and tossing it into a bowl. The dog also needs to be supplemented with things like tripe, veggies, grains like oatmeal, eggs, and other meats.

It requires alot of research and dedication to pull off, but the results are well worth it.

I know somebody who has, shows, breeds and hunts with weimeraners. She actually raises her own chickens, ducks and rabbits to feed her dogs. Now that right there is the best diet possible for a dog because with home grown meats, there are no growth hormones or preservatives added. Not to mention if you have the food items on a good diet, that increases the over all nutriciousness of the meat.

That also is the best diet for a human as well.

The kinds of things we fed our two black labs became an issue last summer when we had them spayed. They had blood tests done and they were severely anemic and they both almost died on the table. But now they're doing well. Nice paws, healthy coats and such. Our Vet was glad with the results. We feed them "Maximum Nutrition" lamb formula.
And I have to say that while all breeds of dogs are different, I have to point out that Labs are completely different and set apart from all other breeds. they are so much more complex and have more specifications.
wow, that sounded like it made no sense, but to you other lab owners out there, do you understand what I mean???

Dry bagged bil-jack dog food.
I don't have space, time, effort or money for the natural foods than need prep. and refrigeration or freezing and I have heard that Bil-Jack is pretty good. So, that is what I usually feed them. Sometimes if another dogfood is on sale when I get the bil-jack, I will get that too and mix the two kinds. If I run out of dog food, they get scrambled eggs or leftovers or something for a meal. They like that. :)

Well depends who is feeding them. If i am then they Tux dog biscuits if anyone else is feeding they get a variety of tin food which i wont feed them cause i dont agree with feeding dogs tin food cause it is so bad for there teeth. Our 8 year old dog who was feed tin all his life now only has half his teeth left
