I would have to agree that a major downside is the fact that the same topics (OK, topic) appear again and again. Seeing an interesting new OP makes me happy :)

I also get rather tired by the lack of logic.

Something like: "If two guys can get married, why can't I shoot my neighbor dead? Should we all be allowed to do whatever we want? If we give gays rights, why not murderer's rights?"

So, 2 people of the same sex = one person killing another (usually without their consent).

I get tired of being compared to a rapist, a murderer, a pedophile or a drug addict, and I can't honestly believe that the person can't see the difference between 3 where there is a victim, and a fourth where the person is destroying themselves, while not being able to say the same about gay people.

I also get tired of the changing of subjects:
A: Gays shouldn't be allowed to marry!
B: From a civil point of view, that's unfair.
A: UNFAIR? Well, it's unfair that I can't rob a bank.
B: No, it's not.
A: So, you agree that banning gay marriage is fair?
B: No.
A: So, I can just walk into any bank and take money?
B: No.
A: I think that gay people are trying to corrupt our children in school.
B: What does that have to do with gay marriage?
A: You think it is ok to molest children?
B: No. Do you????
A: Good. So we agree that gay marriage should remain illegal?

For the LOVE of CHER, stay on topic. Grrrrrrr.

i'm sick of the circular arguments people make, like marriage isn't about people loving each other but about procreation.
when that singles out a huge number of people that didn't marry to make children.
or the arguments about marriage being a ritual between god and man, when not everyone believes in god or in the christian god, but for some reason its ok, because they are male and female.

or comparing homosexual marriage to an obvious crime, as BB says.

i dislike that some members seem to think this is an ok way to debate, by demonizing the other side.
its worse to me that christians will attack other christians that don't share this view. how can these people say they are showing sinners the right way to come to god if they lack the unity that would make people join them?

Same here. The lack of logic from some posters is frightening! I mean, I can understand if someone doesn't know a fact, like who the president of France is, or if their spelling or grammar is poor. What I find completely unable to understand is how some people are either unable or unwilling to just think things through logically. It's very frustrating, as I suspect the culprits are unwilling rather than unable to use logic, probably because they are so adamant they are right, or they are so sure their way is the right way, that they completely disregard anything you say.

I don't like the sweeping generalisations made about groups of people - atheists, Christians, gay people, bisexual people, liberals...

Similarly, I hate being generalized into one of these groups. If you asked a lot of people on this board where my general political leanings were, most would probably say I was liberal. Socially, perhaps. However, I'm fiscally conservative and pro-(regulated) guns. There's also a splash of paleo-con/libertarian in me. When it's all taken together, I usually come just left of center. But so many in the forums can't see shades of grey.
