We call each other Boyfriend/Girlfriend, though we're more serious than how those labels are usually portrayed. We have cute pet names for one another and he'll call me his Angel often *blush* lol.

But hopefully he'll be calling me his fiancee soon...

When courting twice in the past I was young and not being asked too often if at all who this person I was seeing would be in relation to me. It was either obvious or people knew by other means.

Now I've met someone new who had no previous mutual friends, but the ideas are almost endless and there should be a few that are not too awkward.

I think if we're choosing to court someone instead of dating or just before engagement we are obviously making a choice that stands out a bit and is meant to separate from the crowd a bit. So worrying too much about titles is really against the entire point.
Unless anyone has any other reasoning behind their choices I haven't thought of or read?

Here is a quick list of options with reasoning why/why it may not be a good choice for you to use.

Titles
  1. My Sweet/Sweetheart etc - Rating: 5
Pros: Cute but formal enough to not be awkward
    Cons: Possible too vague?
  2. Darling - Rating: 5
Pros: Endearing, encourages follow-up questions instead of confusion, uncommon(but that's the point?)
    Cons: Slightly vague?
  3. GOOD friend, dear friend - Rating: 4
Pros: Possibly unassuming (if that's good, but can change with intonation and expression), simple, adaptable.
Cons: Vague, may have to change soon to something more serious.
  4. Significant Other - Rating: 3
    Pros: Normal, common.
Cons: Complex, a lot to say, too commonplace?
  5. Love - Rating: 3
    Pros: Nice, simple, accurate.
Cons: Possible implications, but less assumed than 'partner', such as confusing already married or just being silly while dating.
  6. Partner - Rating: 3
    Pros: Simple, normal, common.
Cons: May have implied connotations like living together and/or sexually active (which some may prefer to avoid), Possibly too commonplace?
  7. Beloved - Rating: 3
    Pros: Endearing, deep.
Cons: Possibly too formal for most preferences, maybe a little too strong and saved for marriage?
  8. Courtee (Courter) - Rating: 2
    Pros: Straight-forward.
Cons: Awkward, unusual, confusing; not really a word?
  9. Suitor/Beau/Flame/etc. - Rating: 2
    Pros: Classic. Separate.
Cons: Probably too old for most tastes, depends on what you want to emphasize.
  10. Boyfriend/Girlfriend - Rating: 2
    Pros: Common. Simple.
Cons: Not really the point for most who want to bother 'courting', but often used still.
