ITT we discuss what our beliefs are on the Old Testiment.

Personally I dont believe in most of the OT, because some was written by man from man's personal beliefs, much like the NT after Jesus' death. Some of the OT may be correct, but think about it, some places contradict what Jesus said, so...man, or Jesus? I choose Jesus.

It matters what parts you say you don't believe in. Is it Jonah? Jesus believed in Jonah:

Mt. 12: 39 He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here.

It appears Jesus believed in a literal Adam and Eve:

Mt 19:4 "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'

It appears Moses and Elijah were literal:

Mt 17:3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.

What specifically do you have problems with?

Well anything that would make God look unloving I guess.

I believe in the OT and NT. Contradictions deal with the Bible not being translated correctly. Thank God we have a prophet.:amen:

And said unto them, "Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day." (Lk.24:46)

Here we have a major problem. No where in the Old Testament is it written that the Messiah would rise fron the dead on the 3rd day. It does say that God would not let the Christs' body see decay nor leave His soul in hades. (Ps.16:10) Nothing about a bodily resurrection on the 3rd day though. So many think some writer added 3rd day onto Lk.24:46.

It is probably a little safer to say, "I have a major problem".

Look at what is written right before the verse you quoted:

[FONT=Arial, Geneva, Helvetica]LK. 24: 44
He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,

Their minds had to be open before they could see and understand all of th OT Scriptures which speak of Jesus.

Jesus tells them where it is written that He shall be in the earth for three days. The deliverance (resurrection) is implied, for the same thing happened to Jonah.

If we do not believe what is written in the Old Testament, how can we believe what is written in the New Testament?

2 Timothy 3:16. "All scripture (the scripture referred to would have to have been the scripture of Old Testament, for the New Testament was not written at that time) is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

I don't see the Old Testament as being written by man from his personal beliefs. I see it as being written by men who wrote or spoke "as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." (1Peter 1:21)
But since they were mere men, they wrote or spoke after the manner of man. So it is written after the manner of men, but must be read and understood in a spiritual manner.

Something just occured to me this morning. You believe in Jesus as the messiah, right? Or as the savior of the world? How are we to know if we are unable to rely on OT prophesies?

And it isn't "man" who inspired the OT. Jesus was a "man" too. In order to take the NT as scripture, you would have to believe that Jesus was more than a man. If you deny divinity of Jesus Christ, then it is just a "man" inspiring other "men" to write about him.

No, Jesus Christ was something more than a man. And his coming was fortold through the OT prophesies which were inspired by God. :)
