  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What do you avoid?

I usually avoid chicken burgers because they almost always contain cartilage, which is extremely unappetizing when it's floating around your mouth unchewable. For the same reason, I avoid purchasing ground turkey in the supermarket. GROSS

I usually avoid getting things with tomatoes, although I have been making exceptions here and there. Tomatoes are POISON.

Also, I see no reason to eat liver, the body's trash filter. :X

The only things I really avoid are tomatos, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and salad dressing just because I don't like them.
There really isn't anything that I avoid because of how animals are treated or way a place run, things like that. I like KFC, pork, veal, red meats, and all that stuff that gets avoided by a lot of people.

Not that I know what dog food tastes like . . .
you never ate it as a kid? I know I did. I think I stopped by about age 5, but I can remember eating some.

Though I must admit I like wendy's burgers. But they are greasy. Though my favorite is probably Hardees. But the nearest one is maybe 15-20 miles away.

On mcdonalds there best burgers are the little "hamburgers" that are less than a buck. Can't stand the big mac.

The thread about KFC led me to wonder what (if anything) people here avoid with respect to food and why they avoid it.

I avoid certain additives simply because I believe that they are not safe. Specifically, I avoid BHT, BHA, TBHQ and nitrates and nitrites (such as sodium nitrite).

I'm allergic to tomatoes, so I try to avoid them....actually, I don't avoid them. I love tomatoes! But, if I've had some recently, I'll try to avoid having more for at least a week or two. The side effect is not pretty nor is it comfortable. :o It's just so hard when I want them in my salad!

Hmmm for some reason right now, I'm thinkin' of that one Simpson's episode where Homer inadvertantly creates a lousy veggie-byproduct called "tomacco." Oh my...:D

I also try to avoid Chinese b/c the of the msg situation. I can't be trusted around soy sauce anyway. :help:

I was going to say Men.....then I realized you were talking about food.

For me, it's kfc and mcdonalds. (no I havent read the kfc thread...but nor do I need to. I know that both KFC and mcdonalds sell cancerous chicken. The chickens are force-fed and develop tumors. Those tumors are then cut off and the other body parts are chopped up and sold extremely cheap....probably other places buy the cancerous chicken too but KFC and McDonalds are the only two I know for sure. There are many othe reasons I refuse to eat mcdonalds food also... such as the label "100% beef" on their products is actually the name of the company they purchase the beef from! I also know someone who put a mcdonalds burger patty on a shelf in their garage for a year and it was still good...no mold or anything! The preservitives and chemicals they inject into their food is is massively ridiculous! Oh.....and I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure their french fries aren't even made out of potatoes..atleast not entirely...they taste like turnips. ohh....I could go on....
LOL, well I have to stick with men, they're worse for me physically and everything else then any horrific fast food combination/spice/hot food combined. :)

I'm trying to stay away from sodas more and drink more water. :)
My family usually tries to stay away from restaurants who have *all you can eat bars* cause the food is usually overcooked, puts MSG on stuff to preserve it. or you end up eating more than you should and getting sick.

As for KFC, my family doesn't eat there, because when we have we've gotten sick from it. We like Church's chicken instead. The chicken at Church's is not as greasy & it doesn't have the funky yellow blob between the skin & meat like KFC does.

I've tried a lot of different meats & I love pretty much all veggies & fruits. :yum:

Shazam!!! I just had a whole watermelon on Saturday....I went to the store in order to purchase candy...and i got caught up in the produce section (every time it happens!)....intending on getting my usual strawberries and blackberries....

then.....

it's at that moment when i saw them........

THE WATERMELONS!!!
oh the watermelons...i hadn't had watermelon since the summer last......

I just had to find the perfect one....:tutu:

it was only going to cost me $3.99 (and i could still get the strawberries ON SALE for $2.50)
all of this would only set me back 8/10ths of a bacon bacon cheeseburger at Jack in the Box.....

I ended up calling my boyfriend, former stater brothers produce manager), and he gave me the criteria matching refreshing heavenly goodness that is watermelon....
ate the whole thing in only 4 hours....muahahahha!!!! pleasure was all mine....

and so...the moral of this tale was...i hate waterchesnuts...

& moreover...

YOU MUST HAVE SOME OF THIS WATERMELON....it is delicious!!!:liturgy:

I can't say that I avoid it like I avoid BHT, MSG, etc., but I take every opportunity to do without it.

What is it? Corn syrup.

I am sure that there is some social or scientific explanation--maybe corn syrup costs less or has a longer shelf life--for why almost every processed food contains corn syrup, but it is a trend that I do not like.

Of course, somebody with a PhD. in Chemistry will probably say that the difference between corn syrup and table sugar is trivial.

Well, trivial or not, if the ingredients only say "sugar" then it is an easy choice for me.
