  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

my feelings on POD is this:

i love their music, and i greatly respect their faith. i like how they are actually out there giving light to people who need it, instead of hanging out the church pewers. i guess each band has their own place, but i'm more of the Christiand bands going out into the place that needs some light to be shed on it, and giving it in love and grace, instead of trying to be pastors.

one of the greatest sights for me when i watched POD at the cornerstone festival was during their set on the main stage. they were playing one of my favorite songs of their, "Breathe Babylon." all of a sudden, Sonny, stops the whole set becuase he sees kid has fallen on the ground in the mosh pit. he stopped the set, and told the people to move back because there's a kid down on the ground. Sonny really took charge of the situation. then as we're waiting for the ambulance to get there, Sonny asks the crowd to remain in silence and to just pray for the kid, because he was unconscience/passed out. it took awhile, because out in Bushnell, Illinoise where cornerstone is heled at, it is no man's land (one of the reasons why i love it, hehe.) then after time went by, we started singing some praise songs as a whole group softly while the ambulance came. then they came and got the kid. after that, POD did the song, Set your eyes to Zion, and then the band did some praise and worship songs acousticly, and that was the set.

it was just awesome to me, because instead of just continuing on with their rock show, or trying to promte their album or whatever, they stopped the set, to control of the situation, and just asked us to pray for the kid, and then after the ambulance left, they did a song that is more of a worship song in my opinion, and then we all sung praise and worship songs. it was great, and showed a true spirit of humility and love in the Christian faith.

plus, the first time i saw them, they were at the newport hall in columbus, ohio. my friends and i went to the return of the rock show for mtv, and they had other bands there such as Crazytown, Dope, POD and Staind. well crazytown, i didn't and still don't like, Dope was pretty cool after watching them live, and then POD got on stage. awesome show. and my friends and i like staind, but we wanted to try to talk to POD. so we left and found them outside by the buses where more fans were around talking to them. we got to ask them questions and stuff, and they were honest about their faith, and every question that was asked.

in my opinion, that is enough reasons for me to believe that they are Christians, and devoted Christians. plus i think the albums they've produced all these years, is enough sign, but some people are stubborn upon their own beliefs of others' faith.

i don't listen to that much anymore. mainly because i've lost their cd's from moving a lot. i found the satelitte album and i'm going to have to go out and pick up their other albums. i'm into a lot of metal and stuff, and they are no where metal, but i love music period, and they were one of the first Christian Hard Rock band i ever listened to, and their music means a lot to me, and i just think they will always be an awesome band, for however long they keep putting out albums, which i hope is for awhile!

as far as the guitarist change, i like the change. i equally like both guitarists tho. Marcos is an awesome guitarist, and i would like to hear stuff from his new band. but i also love Jason Trudy's playing, because he used to be in Living Sacrifice. then he left Living Sacrifice, and took time out of the music scene and then joined POD. i love Living Sacrifice. good Christian metal in my opinion, and sadly they have broken up. but i like what Trudy has brought into the band and i just see it as a change for POD, but it still sounds like POD to me.
