Nadiine, have you been to John MacArthur's Church? because you're down there in SoCal..
Good question. If so, I'm jealous! Hehe.
I have friends who met him in the Spring and so enjoyed meeting him.

I haven't gone there, we've only driven by it when in that area and that was a few years ago.

My girlfriend (who now lives in San Fran.) used to live in Sherman Oaks which is alot closer to him and I mentioned that she should go there if she ever wanted to go to church.
She never went.

very true. I was that way for a long time myself tho. Her and I used to party a little bit in the LA bars when she lived down here.
So by the time I came back to the Lord, she wasn't receptive at all to it.
So I understand why.
But she's talked alot lately about Joyce Meyer & how she watches her some mornings and likes it. So that's at least a start towards softening I think

Beth Moore... my mom gave me a workbook of hers for Christmas last year but I havent' done a whole lot of it.

I haven't listend to J.M. in a long time now, so I don't know what she's teaching lately
As far as what I knew of her teachings, I think they're helpful to Christians but for nonbelievers I think alot of things they watch or listen to on the radio with respects to interest in the Lord could be used by the Lord to work in them. (outside of heretics & complete charlatains... but even then, God isn't limited).
That's all to say something's probly better than nothing at all?

Solid biblical teacher although I think he ran his mouth too much in the last shepards conference when he stated all calvinists should be dispesentionalists.

Way to anger presbyterians Johnny Boy.

Precisely why I love the guy, he is not afraid to Ruffle feathers; I don't expect him to be Correct all the time, I don't expect anyone too though. He has intestinal Fortitude and that is missing with a lot of these so called Evangelicals...

One thing I notice is that I'm drawn to teachers who take authority in preaching God's word.
I'm not into the wimpy, sappy types that use alot of apology or buffering to make God's word sound less emphatic or 'narrow' than it actually is.
They simply explain why it is and that God is sovereign.

I also LOVE David Hocking - another powerful man of God.

This is the link to his recent radio sermons. I listen to them as much as possible, or I catch what I missed here when they appear the day after his radio broadcast.

http://www.davidhocking.org/radio/

I've had the pleasure of him being the guest speaker at our church quite a few times & enjoyed talking to him afterwards.
He's AWESOME

It's great to have some big names to listen to, but I think that there are many home-grown pastors can be awesome teachers, too. I have listened to lots of DrSteve's sermons, and he preaches a good sermon. The pastor of my church has a Bible and isn't afraid to use it, too. LOL.

I'm bookmarking that page, Nadiine. Thanks!

Oh I can't agree more NewDawn!

I've learned more from our new (well, 1 year at new church) Pastor in 6 months than I learned in many churches over a period of 9 years.
The man is phenomenal in his approach to application of God's teachings and principles.
Namely SERVING others and being involved in ministry - not filling a pew to hear a sermon and go about your week till next Sun.

Also, my sister's old church has sermons online, she often goes to his site and listen to his teachings - alot of deep info not preached in most pulpits.
Anyways, that's an excellent point you bring up & I can't agree more.

I love Pastor John Macarthur's preaching of the Word, it isn't watered down at all, even though at times he makes being Christian sound very tough to live. Its a welcome though as opposed to Prosperity preachers. I also like Charles Stanley.
I think They are both excellent pastors when it comes to the teaching of the word with a few exceptions on a couple of Macarthurs teachings.

I think that John Macarthur completely drops the ball when it comes to election and predestination teachings and the teaching of replacement theology. Other than those I think hes a dead on scriptural leader.

I didn't know he was a dispensationalist.. in fact I'm kind of surprised by that.

anyway, he has some good teachings, but in general since I'm not a calvinist, I disagree with some of his views. I think he has a tendancy to be too extreme in his negative views of other denoms (particularly Catholics and Charismatics)
