You don't like honesty?
Please don't put words into my mouth. All you're doing is proving my point.

Jesus believed in all you describe above, with maybe the exception of the rapture, maybe. Any person calling themself a Christian and contending against Jesus and His teachings should be what you find suspect.
Yes, I did think about adding a caveat to my original post. Something about how the self-proclaimed True Christians™ vehemently deny that they are doing anything but the Lord's work, to the extent that they deny the Christian-ness of any who dare believe differently to them. They fiercely assert that Jesus believed as they do, and that they are therefore right, and that everyone else is therefore wrong - without once considering that their fundamental premise, that Jesus believed as they do, could be itself wrong.

Again, my only point is that AV's post highlights the problem I have with Christianity and that particular breed of Christians. They take Jesus' fundamental teachings of love and compassion, and warp them into a justification for revelling in death and misery.

Because of the above, or because we believe in the Judgement as well?
Because you're nasty people. By hook or by crook, you and your ilk seem to inevitably hold cruel and vicious views. During the Japanese earthquake, I was stunned to see Christians revelling in the disaster, calling it God's punishment for Pearl Harbour. They weren't just nasty people, their nastiness came from their own religious views. When Jesus said to love your neighbour, I don't think he meant "Gloat in the misery and death of others in the face of natural disasters". So, that brand of religious fervour that leads people to revel in death, is hardly something I want to be a part of.

My personal favourite was a guy who tole me he prays daily to 'god' for word that it is time to start killing the atheists.

i recommend "the Turner Diaries" for a modern idea of how ugly and vicious "christian' thinking can become.

or one can review the Inquisition, of course.

I tried to read "diaries' but at the point where they were hanging mixed race couples from lamp posts i was feeling physically ill and didnt feel like Id benefit from reading any more.

You weren't a part of it before the disaster, so don't try and use that as an excuse.

There's a side of God that we haven't begun to mention; to wit, such passages as:

2 Corinthians 5:11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

And when we do mention such things as Judgment and Hell, we get a "don't try to scare me" speech from you guys.

So quit acting disgusted and think we're going to fall for it.

You want to get disgusted, get disgusted at abortionists, who make [you're portrayal of] God look good.

And you can rail on abortionists too -- else I really don't want to hear it.

They are creationists which means they start very very low down on the intelligence scale, (bottom feeders) they would be like that even if they had never even heard of a God or creationism.

You know yourself that we have idiots in the UK, some even call the fire service out on hoax calls just so they can throw stones at the firemen, there are loony tunes everywhere, creationists are just loony tunes with a loony religion.

Again, just so you won't understand, God works through weather mainly by withholding His hand of protection -- not by sending a direct phenomenon.

Read Job 1 & 2, where God placed a hedge of protection around Job, and the "prince of the power of the air" did the rest.

So, he just got lucky that there was a storm brewing in time for each event?

So, have you got an answer for this one?

The OP asked a very pointed question, and I answered it with very pointed data -- even though, in my opinion, you guys aren't going to understand -- (which I can attest to in some of the replies).

I'll use whatever I please, whether you authorise it or not. Your post highlights the nasty side of Christianity. No more, no less.

That's rather a broad brush you're painting with, but whatever. The point is, for a religion that touts itself as one of absolute love and compassion, it doesn't always make itself appear that way. Your post is a good example of the cruelty and hatred inherent in some varieties of Christianity. As for the Judgement and Hell, that's just further proof that what you believe in is nothing like the omnibenevolence so often asserted by Christians.

So quit acting disgusted and think we're going to fall for it.
I couldn't care less whether you believe me or not. Your post did disgust me. I am disgusted at your glee in the suffering and death of innocent people.

You want to get disgusted, get disgusted at abortionists, who make [you're portrayal of] God look good.
What abortion doctors do is nowhere near as sick as what you do - they don't revel in the termination of a pregnancy. You, however, delight in natural disasters that kill thousands of people. Westboro Baptist Church believe that every death is a gift from God and celebrate natural and man-made tragedies accordingly - perhaps you'd fit in there?
