The event actualy happened souljah , I also read about it in time magazine , I think it was time .
There was also another event concerning the pope in assisi , this had to do with ecumenism . I think it was at assisi where the pope allowed the cross to be replaced with statue of buddah and everyone prayed to buddah , this was to prove that all religions could come together .
I know you think i'm a stirer but i'm not , I just like to present facts rather than a load of hogwash that we hear a lot of today .
I will try and find more on the event at assisi . thanks .

Its half-baked because it ignores the reason he kissed the Koran. He wasn't declaring it "correct," He was hangin out with sinners, like Jesus did.
I agree Warrior but Brian seems to be having a good old time.Originally posted by Warrior4Jah
Im ashamed of many people in this thread. This stupid thing need to be locked up and thrown away! All its become is a thread fgor exchanging discrete insults! It has NOTHING to do with the originial topic, and absolutely NO debate is taking place. There is no need to say anything in this thread because there is no existing subject! I wish a mod would have a look at this.
Please point out where I said that.Originally posted by gunnysgt
Hmmm. So then Catholic Christians and those that beleive in Allah share the sacraments together I take it. Interesting concept.

I take it, Brian, that you have a problem with ecumenism.
I hardly think the 2000 year old Catholic Church will allow itself to be hybridized. The wheels of change in the Church turn very slowly., but if it should happen , It will create a hybrid religion that will distance itself from true christianity .

Brian, this is really a non-issue.....the Pope is not only a religious leader, but also an important political figure; in these times.
You don't win people by rejecting them.....Jesus did the same, when he mingled with tax collectors and prostitutes....im guessing you don't have a problem with that.
Its amazing how Jesus' own followers are part of the same hypocrisy that he came to rid this world of....
ps: im not catholic

Under ecumenism the pope is not trying to bring people to jesus christ , rather , he is trying to bring christians to the understanding and acceptance of other religions , including paganism and false gods , and so far it seems he is slowly winning .

I look at ecumenism in different religious beliefs the same way as I look at the way different countries deal with each other. It is to our advantage to be friendly and have at least a basic concept and understanding of their beliefs.
That includes not accusing them of worshipping false Gods. This is a big world and we have to get along or we will kill each other. Christian are not immune from that sin. They can hate right along with the best of them.

Understanding another religion is not a bad thing. And neither is acceptance. I "accept" the right of another person to have a different belief system. If I can do that, I am less likely to think of them as the enemy. And I am more likely to treat him kindly. As soon as we take the "other" status from a person they become human. If we leave it there they become fair game.
It's not only Christians who are my brothers and sisters but everyone on this planet.
Well, that's my humble philosophy.

Hmmmm....
A lot of these arguments are merely insults or based on stereotypes.
The way to gague a religion is by its Holy Books, not by its peoples. If I were to judge a large proportion of Christianity by its followers, I would come away with a terrible impression. However, if I read the Holy Books - not all of them, but not a mere 2 verses - I see what a good religion - fundamentally - it is.
The same applies with Islam. The Qu'rán is an incredible book, I recommend you read it with an open mind and a pure heart. Try to purge any stereotypes or preconceptions from your head, and read it and you will see the inherent good in it.

There is only one truth ( jesus christ ) and the truth about him can only be found in one holy book ( THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE )
The author of this book is the one and only true God of the universe , the creator of all that is .
All other religions and so called holy books are of the Devil , and those who believe and follow these things are decieved by satan .
