Yeah, the local Jehovah's witnesses call their little grey bible "the silver sword". I'm not equating them with Nicene confessing Christians but ... they do have a Protestant heritage.
And Protestantism has a Catholic heritage. Even Voodoo has a Catholic heritage. I'd say any religion that incorporates Christ in any way has its roots in Catholocism.

Fair reply, and I agree, as well as find myself laughing.

There's also a whole branch of Catholocism that believes the Roman Catholic Church became apostate with the advent of Vatican II, and that Pius XII was the last legitimate Pope. I believe Mel Gibson is in that camp.

That the Bible is the word of God, that Jesus is God in the flesh.

Now when it comes to salvation, or any other topic what can all Christians agree on?
Nope, they cannot agree to that.

My pastor quite frankly told me what hoops he had to go through and said what amounts to: they had a meeting and all they could agree on was Jesus was an interesting man

Redundant. Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, and ELCA are mainline protestant churches. Surely AI knows that? "Mainline" is a defined group of churches as differentiated from "mainstream."

I'd say some. Maybe a very small number but enough to be heard, and with famous people among their number like Mel Gibson. And I note that having fame is like having a megaphone. I do not share their opinions. I cannot give a fair and reasonable presentation of their views if you ask if of me because I am not sufficiently familiar with them.

All I want to say is that I am persuaded that their views are not reflected by the majority of Catholics whom I know and that I am also persuaded (without direct evidence) that they are a fringe group at present and may disappear over time.

I believe that this would be less than one percent of the number of members of the Catholic Church. The Society of St. Pius X had a very small group break of which are called the Society of St. Pius V, and those are the ones that believe Pius XII was the last legitimate pope. There happens to be a church of the Society of St. Pius X maybe a bit less than a mile away from my house.
