• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm sorry to hear that. I have stenosis in my neck and I get pain blocks for it. Have they ever said anything about that treatement? I am sorry that you will be facing a wheelchair. That must be very difficult for you. I am praying for you dear.

Hi Ruth - Im sorry to hear you have stenosis in your neck. Do the pain blocks help? I got one epidural of steroids in my spine. it seemed to help for a while but really .... sigh...big smile now (winky wink) I learned it is inoperable and I will be in a wheel chair. I am praying for Gods will and trust in Him for Everything!!

If you have stenosis in your neck are you arms affected? Do you have problems writing for example?

I am thankful to have a cane! It had helped quite a bit, my back is not as sore after going for a walk. I use it around the house too.

God bless you !

Hello everyone I have mild cerebral palsy, and I am legally blind in both eyes. I was born with it and they say it was a birth defect due to lack of oxygen at birth. I am use to it however. I have never really had a job. It can be depressing at times but I am on medication and seeing a therapist for that plus I have the forums here for support.

I have had Friedreich's Ataxia since the age of four. It is a genetic disease that attacks my nervous system and effects my spine, heart, muscles and motor skills. It is rare so I am not sure if anyone else here has it but I made a separate thread about it in case others here do.

I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at age 4. Still truckin', though.

I was born with it...it is what they call a mild case but I do not have much strength and stamina. How does it effect you on a daily basis? I have tried to do weight training exercises and I always hit a brick wall and it was explained to me that I do not have the ability to build muscle to the point of being toned for example nor to run for a long period of time, etc. How does it effect you from day to day? I also walk a little funny because of it....like on the outer edges of my feet and am not very flexable.
That being said however, I am still blessed and God is always there and He is always full of grace and love. You know what, I could be worse, but I am not. I could be totally disabled but I am not. I can still walk, jump, jog, lift, and bend. For me it is all about perspective, so I try and try to focus on what I have rather than what I do not have. Is it easy, nope, but the negative alternative is worse. Thank you for sharing and I hope that you have a great day.

It is good to know you are so positive about that ^^

It is interesting you mentioned that you walk on the outer edges of your feet because I do that too. When I walk my spine sways and my legs kind of spread more then I want them to. When I sit my feet are fine, they do not turn it O.O It only seems to happen when I walk.

It is a strange thing that I guess exercise to a small degree might help but I am just so use to it and never think to stretch for example. I did that for a while on a machine but I really did not get that much better so I got discouraged and gave up on it. But I can walk and I enjoy going for walks, so it is all good.
