What defines modest clothing?

It is important to remember the kind of society we live in. For some, dressing modestly is actually not modest. I have seen and known people to wear crop tops, shirts that reveal stomachs, extremely short shorts, dresses that reveal just a tad too much, and yet still have this "moral standard". However, as sad as it is to say this, it is socially acceptable to dress like that. But we are not meant to be accepted into society; we are not meant to be like everyone else. So my answer is, modesty in this day and age while trying to keep the Bible close in mind, modesty, to me, would be wearing clothes that don't reveal too much to a man's eyes; modesty would be not flaunting your entire legs and even your butt, or in some cases your breasts, to where ever you go. Modesty would be having humility in how you make yourself appear to be with your clothes, because not only do our words and actions represent Christ but I would like to think in some way or form that our choice of clothing represents Him to.

I am using 1 Peter 3:3 to reference this. Let out inner also shine through out outer. While some women enjoy wearing shorts and tanks, and that is fine because I do so myself, I think there is a certain limit of what we should wear. And half the time, I really think these women who wear too little or revealing clothes are either trying to bring attention to herself or she has the knowledge that she is beautiful. But I still think there are other ways around showing that. Is your heart not more beautiful than your face or body? Someone can be so beautiful on the outside and be hideous on the inside.

To me one dress according to what is the acceptable cultural dress. A beach in one way of dressing, be it a nudist or clothed beach. One should dress for the climate, but it sunshirt or long johns for the winter.

I don't think taking OT Jewish laws and trying to apply them to Christian Gentiles makes any sense Biblically.
