  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You've never heard that asked before?

Did God create man, or did Man create God.

What do we tell a 3 or 4 or 5 year old when they tell us about their invisible friend?

No. If you eliminate a transcendent entity accounting for the existence of the universe, you are left with an infinite regress of causality, a scenario which forbids the existence of reality; but reality exists and cannot be at odds with itself, hence there cannot be an infinite regress and there must be a transcendent entity accounting for the existence of the universe, whom theists would attribute the designation of "God."

Krystina661,

God has been forever. What is a second before time began? What is eternity before time began? It has no meaning. If you believe in the bible, God has already said that we won't understand things now, but later we will.

Also, I don't think God could possibly get bored.

So right! In eternity God sees all things past and presnt in time, and the things outside of time. People try to comprehend these things with finite minds. some things we can't understand now, but in eternity with God they will seem so simple.

Another question.. where was He before he created the heavens and the earth?

Martin Luther had a great answer to this question; "He was creating hell for idle, proud, and inquisitive spirits like you."

(I got this from Bloodofthelamb12)

"Someone asked Augustine where God was before the heavens were created. Augustine replied, "He was in Himself." He is indeed that only self-contained Being; for He is the only Infinite One. And when Luther was asked the same question, he answered, "He was creating hell for idle, proud, and inquisitive spirits like you.""

Augustines's answer here is pretty good.

God did not create himself. God has always existed and will always exist. Thinking of God in those terms is practically beyond our imagination. Atheists can get downright nasty toward's people who believe in God. But that doesn't strengthen or support their position.

dede10, can you give me an explanation as to why God is eternal and has always been? i can't just believe something without proof..how do you do it?
There was proof at one time. Christ lived on earth as Jesus and he caused people who were three days dead to rise and walk. And he made a huge pillar of fire in the desert to light the night. People witnessed these events first hand. That's why the story of Jesus life here on earth is so popular.

If you're with the saved, one day you will meet him face to face. Then you will be able to talk with him and he will talk with you. But he first has to remain silent until his return. If you have faith in him, you will be richly rewarded in the next life. He hears everything you say, everything you think. He knows what's going on inside your head.

There is a saying, "the calm before the storm." I've seen days where at noon it was as dark as nighttime and very quiet. Usually just before a tornado rolls in.

That's the same with Christ. He is very quiet now, but one day he will appear, and that will be a very big show.

Hey cur ,

When Moses asked God's name , when he was being sent into Egypt ,

The Lord said , "I AM THAT I AM " <---> From Exodus 3:14

Which in Hebrew is something akin to YAHWEH , which by definition , means

" The Self-Existent " ; The Eternal

Therefore we are told that God was not created as others have been .

We ought not think it strange , that Someone , so far Above and Beyond our mere mortal existence , would be extremely difficult to comprehend : none the less it's important to believe in some thing or some One beyond our current level of understanding ... for that is what inspires us to press on , in our search for wisdom , knowledge , and understanding .

Any part of Our Great and Glorious Creator / Sustainer which we can perceive / understand , should be cherished and treasured ; and by utilizing the revelations , we have been given , in acceptable ways ; we can be confident that the enlightenment of our soul and spirit will continue and expand , as we are prepared to receive and handle it well .

Even science is now allowing , that with " infinite time ", something could possibly come from " nothing " .

But we who possess the gift of faith , seek more to " prove " ourselves , for God , in our minds , is not the One in Question !

Hope this is helpful ,

wm

Downright nasty? I've never seen an atheist threaten eternal damnation for not believing what someone else wants them to believe.

I just read a Global History text book and there was a paragraph about this time period. I never read about Jesus causing Other people who were dead 3 days to rise, never saw that in any history books either. I thought it was only Jesus who was 3 days dead? He was the one who supposedly fulfilled that prophesy... others fulfilled it too?????

Like Santa Claus? He knows when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake, he knows when you've been good or bad, so be good for Goodness Sake.

I'm ready to meet Him face to face. I'm sure I'll stil have the same questions I have now.

There is a saying, "the calm before the storm." I've seen days where at noon it was as dark as nighttime and very quiet. Usually just before a tornado rolls in.

Yeah, won't that be something. Which 100 year prediction are we working on now?
