Im going to be building an Athlon 64 3500 in a few days and was curious as to what everyone else wants in there next machine. Heres my next machines specs

cpu: Athlon 64 3500 (939 pin)
mb: Msi k8n neo2
Ram: 1.5 gigs Kingston Hyperx pc3700
Video card: Ati Radeon 9800xt 256 meg version
Hard drive: WD Raptor 10,000 rpm 74 gig sata (for booting up and fast games)
2nd HD: WD 200 gig 7500 rpm sata (for storage movies, mp3s etc etc)

This rig was really not that exspensive with most parts bought at the pomona computer show for alot less than you think!

For my PC useage, AMD all the way (interesting note...AMD has actually surpassed Intel as the world leader in production, quality and speed of processors! Intel has even started copying AMD in their newest chips!).

As for beautiful Macs...ahhh....G5....*droooooooool*

Macs rule.
PC's not running Linux dr00l.

LoL

i already have a P4 but i want one of the new ones (INTEL PENTIUM 4 Processor 530 LGA775 3.0Ghz 1MB L2-Cache 800FSB) i use my computer more for graphics, etc, and have found that HT P4's work smoother than the AMD's. if i was building a gaming system i would go with AMD though.

Well, I kind of had to buy a system on the cheap in a hurry recently, because I had very little money, and needed a computer badly. So I bought a Celeron system... so in a way my next cpu is my current one...

I dunno where I'm going next... this is my first intel cpu in about 10 years. :p

unless you have some kind of masochistic thing going on, or you absolutely desperately need one, I wouldn't touch a mac with a 10ft pole. :p
I do some graphics work and am told that a Mac would be the best for the job. There are alot of reasons mostly cost and compatablilty with my favorite programs that keep me away from it :)

Macs rule...hands down. They are full of eye candy, power, and extreme ease of use. You'll never have problems with a Mac (at least I never have...). Linux is the Mac os a PC box...eye candy, speed, and power. If you want to save money on your computing, use Linux. If you want to get the Cadillac and compute with style, get a Mac. :)

Well.. I just recently built a new computer within the last few months. It took a few weeks to build due to the way my paychecks fell and the amount I actually get from them.

However, the computer is nearing completion. The thing is running now and I use it all the time, but it isn't truly complete.

Right now it has:
-P4 3.2 GHz 438 pin
-Intel 865PERL motherboard
-160 GB HDD (With 130 GB of space available?!)
-512 MB DDR of some sort RAM
-DVD+/-RW burner
-Windows 2000
-GeForce 4 MMX 440
-Mini-Woofer system. 9.00 computer show deal that my dad got... Worked fine until the subwoofer kind blew up and the right speaker doesn't work usually (No matter what speakers are plugged into it though). Has great sound though. If only it was broken...

Things that need to be added to make it complete:
-nVidia GeForce 6800 GT (WHICH IS COMING EITHER TOMORROW OR SATURDAY :D:D)
-Another 512 MB stick of RAM for a total of 1 GB RAM.
-IntelliMouse Explorer (Wired).
-Windows XP.
-Perhaps another 200 GB HDD when I get the money.

I'm asking for Windows XP and the RAM stick for my birthday/Christmas... So hopefully I'll have this little project done by the end of the year. It should last me about 3 years before I have to upgrade again.. ^_^

I don't know what my next upgrade will be, because we just boosted the power of my machine by a lot and I hope it'll last a while. :)

Right now I have:
AMD Athalon 64 2800+
512 MB RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro w/ 256 MB RAM onboard
-and... Um, I can't remember which motherboard we picked out. :p

My husband wants to upgrade his computer to about the same specs, although he wants a different motherboard, one that's more "tweakable."
