From a creationist's point of view what can be learned from these two events?
If you were handed one of the fishes from the disciples or maybe a piece of one would you conclude the fish was an adult and had age?
Am I out in left field by asking about age?
And what other lessons can we learn here?

Somehow I think I'm missing a point or something with these two miracles. Can they correlate in some way with the creation as a whole or give insights I'm not seeing?

|v12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
|v13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
|v14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
|v15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
|v16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
(OldT:1 Kings 17:12-16)

|v17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
|v18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
|v19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
|v20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
|v21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
(NewT:Matthew 14:17-21)

Good point. This is where a lot of scoffers miss it. They don't realize that Adam was created fully mature, the trees were created fully grown, and God created a fully mature earth and solar system in 6 days.
It all comes down to faith. My faith is in God and his recorded words

1) Instantaneous creation is possible.
2) The oil and fish had to have an instantly matured beginning.
3) In both cases each knew God. The faith was that God would fulfill their request as it was His will.

I don't know if molecular analysis would prove the fish to have age or not but it would be a fair assumption the multitudes "knew" the fish had age. They saw it, they handled it and they ate it. If anyone told someone in the back rows the fish was only a few minutes old I would think they would have thought the person an idiot to say the least. Proving that claim would be impossible. There was about 5000 men, not including women and children, so all could not have possibly seen the actual creation.
Elijah did it so one doesn't have to be God (part of the Trinity) to pull it off.

/edit
It wasn't by Elijah's power but God working through him.
