I believe the bible's explanation of course,
but I'm wondering how others might respond

Food. Modern Humans have only existed for some million years or so; things that humans are capable of digesting have been around for billions of years.

Do we eat to live or live to eat?

Depends on your point of view. We do eat to live and, from a strictly biological standpoint, we live to reproduce.

The organism that humans are directly descended from already had males and females in it; humans didn't have to reinvent the [arrow].

The first sexual reproduction, I would assume, took place in organisms that had both sexual organs (like sponges, fungi, and plants do). It was only later that some of these organs began to show prominance in some specimens while others in others. So the two sexes came at the same time.

On the Day Jesus made the Earth, Day 3, BEFORE the plants and herbs, Day 3, and after the rain, Jesus made Adam. If Adam had not been made on the 3rd Day, then he would have not been present to name the animals, from the ground, which Jesus made at the beginning of the 6th Day. Gen. 2:18-20.

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created (by Invisible God Father), in the day that the LORD God (Son or YHWH) made the earth (Day 3..Gen. 1:9-10) and the heavens, (Plural, the 1st Heaven (Singular) was made on the 2nd Day...Gen. 1:6-8)

And every plant of the field before it WAS in the earth, (Day 3.. Gen. 1:11) and every herb of the field before it grew, Day 3...Gen. 1:12) for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Genesis 2:4-7
