  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Only thing I like better about IE that Firefox (to my knowledge) can't do, is type a search string directly into the URL toolbar and have it auto-search in Google. Firefox automatically takes you to the 1st search result's page.
http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=33&vid=34&category=Search%20Tools

I'm assuming that is what is already installed in Firefox 0.9.1 when it is downloaded. It takes me to a list of results, not to the first result. I haven't found anywhere to configure it, but that's cool with me, because I like the list of results.

Edit: I looked at screenshots on the home page and it's not. But that toolbar does look like it has several more options than the built-in Google search field.

It depends on my mood I can use really anything and I like to try new browsers all the time. I would say 80% of the time I am using Opera (gotta love the tabbed browsing) but I do not have a problem with IE or Netscape.
Mozilla has tabbed browsing (but I haven't had time to figure out how to use it yet  ) and IE also has a free upgrade for it.

All the computer-savvy people keep saying IE has "security issues", so I recently switched to Mozilla 7.1, and kept IE also, but for me, a non-teckie, IE seems more non-geek, user friendly, and if you read Mozilla's forums, it seems even the "experts" are having lots of issues with Mozilla.

Actually, I liked AOL's browser (whatever one they use?) best of all, but switched because they're overpriced & I wanted DSL which I got for only a few $ more than AOL's dial-up cost.

Does anyone actually have any hard facts or personal experience re' IE's supposed security issues? Thanks!

You are correct Mozilla does have tabbed browsing but Opera has many more features and it's way faster and lighter!

I have never seen a IE version that had tabbed browsing. Is the upgrade from a 3rd party?

While on this subject, does anyone know anything about "Avant-browser"? I think I heard Leo Laporte or Jeff Levy commend it on their radio shows.

The browser itself works fine, users of Internet Explorer should be able to transition to it with no problem. But beware: this program comes with adware, which I have had a very difficult time removing from my computer, even after I dumped the Avant browser and went back to Opera. Also, the “favorites” comes preloaded with links to (among other things) adult websites. You might want to delete those before you let your kids use the computer.

I thought I read somewhere online (yesterday) that there was an upgrade available for tabbed browsing for IE, but I don't remember where I read it. I just now did a Google search and couldn't find it either, so maybe I'm mistaken? If so, I apologize.
If I do find the info again, I'll copy and paste it here for you.
