If there is any book you get the most comfort, direction, or wisdom from, and you tend to go back to that book a lot for whatever reason,,, which book, and why?

It really varies for me..I don't feel like I am very grounded in any of the books, that I am only just barely scratching the surface. It depends also on where I am at. If I am feeling down I find comfort in the Psalms, or in studying the promises of God. If I am curious about the mysteries of God, I look at Revelation or Daniel. If I want to go deeper I read Ephesians or John. I'll also find myself reading through Genesis and Exodus, and the major and minor prophets. So, for now, I can't really say..I am trying to take in the scripture as a whole and understand how it fits together, so I am not staying in any particular book for very long. More than anything, I want to know the Lord Jesus Christ and understand the meaning of His cross and that may be the major focus of my studies for the foreseeable future. This is the scripture that has hit me in that regard:

1 Corinthians 2:2

For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

My favorite books are Proverbs, Psalm, Job, Matthew, and Romans, personally.
Proverbs - lots of straight-up advice
Psalm - shows a person of faith trying to relate to God
Job - suffering even when it's not punishment
Matthew - sums up Jesus's ministry well
Romans - gives a good overview of Christian life/morality

Galatians from the New testament, because it's packed with revelation and knowledge, so much so, that even if we ONLY had Galatians, we would still be successful in the work of the ministry, and Genesis from the Old Testament, as it reveals the principles and concepts of how God is working, and why.

I read the psalms most frequently, because I always read a psalm in addition to whatever other book of Scripture I happen to be reading through.
Same here...Psalms plus another

I go through seasons, so one time certain will rise and others will taper off for a time.
Earlier, it was Psalms and Proverbs that I read the most, with a few chapters from both of the testaments.
Lately, however, I read the entire Bible in a few weeks and concentrate on end times for study.
So now Revelation is the main book I read, with some of the minor prophets, Daniel and Isaiah as well. With the end time passages in 1&2 Thessalonians, Matthew 13,24,25, Mark 13, etc.

Our Bible study group is studying the scriptures in reverse at this time. Revelation unto Genesis. It is turning out to be an interesting pursuit. Especially for the Preterits among us.

I will say when I feel the need to go to the scriptures for personal reasons I tend to hold the Bible with its spine flat on the table, close my eyes and think on that personal issue as I let my thumb gently glide across the closed pages.

When I've finished my thought I let my thumb fall where it will. I find it useful because those scriptures to choose from on either page then are very often exactly what I find I needed to read so as to guide me in my quest.
Thus far the book I find most often through this method is the book of Proverbs.

What chapter of Psalms would you like to discuss ?

Oh, my bad...thought we were listing our faves !

Just finished Psalm 84:

---better a day in your courts than 1000 elsewhere !!!

What do you like in Revelation ?

I confess my own deficiencies with the book.
