Right, although to be honest christian metal isn't really metal at all. This is the great identity crisis of Christian music, with no real identity of their own they struggle to co-identify with other legitimate genres. The SOuth Park "Faith + 1" episode comes pretty close to hitting the nail on the head here.

I don't know what the problem is. Metal is a genre, what you sing about doesn't change that. There is some classical music written to glorify God, and there is some that is based on pagan myth, it's still considered classical music though.

I think what he means is that christians mislabel there music. Like on this thread someone mentioned Demon Hunter. Demon Hunter isn't TECHNICALLY metal. It is heavy and awesome though. I have heard a lot of people also call The Devil Wears Prada and Underoath (and other similar bands) metal in christian circles and it just plan isn't.

Lol.. I checked out that song. I was like... well, the definition of metalcore sure has changed if this is metalcore. Then right in the middle "ARID JFLJTL KJADAF!" Oops, never mind :p But ya the lyrics are nice... if you read along.

I don't know if you'll like any of these cause none of these bands are anything like that but, anyway, never hurts to check them out I guess...

Theocracy
Barren Cross (80's Iron Maiden type stuff)
Rob Rock
Mehida
Harmony
Darkwater
Wingdom
Stryper
Seventh Avenue
Magestic Vanguard

That's all I can think of right now. Top 3 are my favorites though. Excellent solid bands. The rest are good and have some really good strong songs but then they have a bunch of crap too.
Theocracy!
Mirror of Souls Is awesome...

Seventh Avenue, I found to be decent. Not too much a fan of Barren Cross. Too Glam... For me... I don't like glam... But! Two each their own, I suppose. Rob Rock awesome too. Incredible vocals.

Have you heard of "Driver", Skullet?

Barren Cross was nothing compared to Stryper or Shout. Ken Tamplin in Shout always makes me

Then again, what would you expect from Sammy Hagar's cousin, right?

It was probably someone older, like myself. The definition of metal music, and its various sub-categories, has changed greatly over the years.

Christian metal, i guess the question is what do you define metal as, if you are like me then you define it as bands like Becoming the archetype, Frost Like Ashes, With Blood Comes Clensing, Living Sacrifice and The Famine. Then again many people would describe it much as the X-Sinner feel then you are getting into classic Christian metal, Barren Cross, Whitecross those kind of bands.

allow me to explain- and we are kind of splitting hairs here

Demon hunter, with simpler structures and bashing breakdowns, might be called either "hardcore" (think hatebreed hxc) or "nu metal" (like Korn)

Underoath is like screamo- hardcore and emo combined

then you have The Devil Wears Prada, which is mostly "Post-Hardcore"- which is similar to screamo, except that it is more based in breakdowns and catchy choruses (think about Atreyu)

lol if you still care, click the link if u dare

Whether you enjoy Christian metal or not really isn't important. What is important is who it ministers to. A lot of youth these days are drawn to it, as they search for something real. So people should at least try to encourage the ministry behind it.
