I'm writing an essay on religious tinkering and I want to know some global perspectives. Feel free to write your opinions!
Could you define what you mean by "religious tinkering"?

I'm willing to respond, but also need to know what your working definition of "Religious Tinkering" is.I'm writing an essay on religious tinkering and I want to know some global perspectives. Feel free to write your opinions!
Apologies for not putting the definition but religious tinkering is the modification of dogma by adding parts from other religions and removing parts that you disagree with, sorry again! Thanks, but I was asking the OP what definition he or she was using for the essay.

That (Tinkering) potentially goes back as far as Saint Augustine, maybe even further.Apologies for not putting the definition but religious tinkering is the modification of dogma by adding parts from other religions and removing parts that you disagree with, sorry again!

well seeing dogma being a principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as being the truth and this perception of truth of said authority not to be be denied or disputed lies the crux of the matter seeing before social media churches is where people would congregate and the priest or pastor would be the authority over their beliefs, but now via social media people are able to voice their own opinions and not be subject to the opinions of institutions which for the most part have abused this power and doctored their dogma's for gain ...
On the other hand, the weakness of this reality, I think is that it allows people to avoid hard realities in faith; ignoring things they don't like or which challenge their particular prejudices (or the like).
Authority can be misused, but it can also help a person to hold themselves accountable to believing and living with integrity, critical thinking and openness.
I don't mean to be unkind HB but, if you wish to reach others, you need to look seriously at your writing style.
Try breaking your thoughts down into logical pieces. Then use Capital letters and full stops to show where one thought ends and another one starts. Following you writing is a bit like listening to someone talking continuously on one breath.
The first rule in communication is to respect your audience and tailor your communication style to meet their needs.

For example, Paul says in acts before he will see them no more, that when he goes wolves will come not sparing the flock. This line of tinkering thinking was refuted as Marcion's heresy.
Another example is that some propose that the concept of eternal torment (vs universal reconciliation) was an idea taken from a pagan cult that no longer exists. Of course today, the standard teaching is eternal torment.
Another example is changing the always-on-the-run grassroots movement known as the way into a state religion, losing it's original foundation.
Another example is the seven church councils that instead of heeding the sermon on the mount, cursing with a heavy curse anyone who believed different starting with Nicea.
Another example is popes, magisterium, colonial applications of the gospel, total tinkering.
Another example is the reformation, stating previous traditions invalid based on the bible created by said traditions? Tinkering indeed.
Replacing resurrection focused gospel with rapture focused gospel, total tinkering.
Replacing traditional doctrines aforementioned with a gnostic focus that is very fornication positive, and based on present day reasoning?
Some teachings seem to mistake aspects of psychology with God and Demons, not being able to distinguish when it is mind and emotions, and when it is spirit.
There's lots of tinkering, even Christianity started as a Jewish sect with protection under Roman law as part of the Jewish religion. So in a way, didn't Christianity tinker with Judiasm?
Whether it's good or bad depends on the application by each individual.
No, that would be on Adam.if tinkering is defined as an adding or subtracting from the word of God, then it could be said that it first started with the women in the garden of God ....
No, that would be on Adam.
Compare what God told Adam with what Adam told Eve.
