  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are you working on now?

I'm working on a knitted shawl for our church's prayer shawl ministry (my first one). We crochet, knit, or quilt shawls for people in the community who are ill or in hospital, aged homes, etc, or anyone we know who we think will benefit.

http://www.shawlministry.com

Before we begin work on a shawl and of course while we're working, we pray for the person who will receive it. We pray for healing or whatever the Lord lays on our hearts. Then the church gathers together all the shawls made and the priest or bishop prays over them in a service before being sent out.

At the moment I'm not really working on anything specific. I' like the idea of making jewelry & have tried a little, so when I've got some tools & supplies in I'm going to give that a real go :) I'm planning on decorating my room soon & plan on doing at least some, if not all, of the soft furnishings for it myself!

Well, in the past 2 weeks I finished my husband's sweater (with all those cables), Made 3 filet hearts and framed them for friends, made a filte banner (says "LOVE" with hearts around it) and framed it for another friend, whipped up the February Crinoline Lady from Cylinda and made a baby blanket for our pastor's nephew's son (born preemie, but may be heading home in a week or two!!).

Now I am working on another baby blanket for Project Linus and a table runner for my nephew's wedding. I also need to do the March Crinoline for my shadow box.

Finished crocheting this and am sewing it to my yellow/green tea towels now.

For the other half, I will be doing this one:

http://www.crochetnmore.com/clusterhangingdishtowel.htm

then working on toppers for the other two towels (cut in half for 4 actual towels) in solid green then the green/white with pea design. My kitchen is Yellow, with red & green accents...my toaster is red.

ooo...meant to say that the thread I'm using is peaches & creme in yellow.

I made a skirt for my daughter today and a toothfairy bag for my oldest daughter yesterday.

I have to finish a snuggle blanket for a baby shower next month and line the kimono jacket that goes with the layette. A little nervous about that one.

Honestly I've got a large amount on my to do list.
Spring dresses for the girls
a pouch sling and wrap as gifts
comfy pants/shorts for my son
rice packs - although my daughter likes to make these so I'll probably leave them for her to do when she's bored.

Are you familiar with "I Spy" books or Where's Waldo? They are similar except they're little beanbags. They're filled with little plastic pellets and they have tiny toys and "treasures" hidden amongst the plastic pellets. There's a little see-through window so that a kiddo can manipulate the bag and the different toys will come into view.

Here's a close up of one.

That is an awesome idea!!! I'll have to try some. They would be great for SS class with little guys...oohhh...have an idea...great to do with resurrection eggs and put those things inside with some sand or those plastic bean fillers...
