I wonder where that cliche comes from. Jocks are really smart
Yeah, it's a silly trope but very common. It used to have a counterpart with the dumb or at least antagonistic cheerleader like Libby in Sabrina the Teenage Witch. But Libby can be fun sometimes.

A Country Wedding is one of the best Hallmark films I've seen. Great writing, acting, sense of humor, and very heartfelt. Also gets points for the pastor being such a good part of the movie. He's the couple's childhood best friend.

I’m watching a video on Law&Crime Network about a church secretary who stole $570K and went on a shopping spree. This was happening over a number of years through a combination of payroll payments and the church credit card. How did they miss that?

The Michigan NASCAR race. Denny Hamlin won. Michigan native Carson Hocevar led with just a few laps left but spun out.

MLB: Atlanta @ Boston: Braves up big the majority of the game but Red Sox came back & won in the 9th. I wanted the Braves

NHL: Stanley Cup Finals Game 4: Edmonton @ Florida: Panthers got up 3-0 but lost in OT 4-3. I wanted the Panthers

How To Train Your Dragon remake does feel like a cartoon brought to life. They put the 150 million dollar budget to good use. The scale and spectacle is quite impressive at times. But the remake does feel heavier and more serious. A lot of it is Astrid. In the original, it was more like she pitied and ignored him until he found his purpose and talents. This new Astrid comes across as openly antagonistic, not liking Hiccup for about half the film. Astrid still kisses him in the end but in the original they were a better couple. Toothless and Hiccup are pretty good in the remake. Although Toothless' catlike charm is not as prominent.

This is the complicated question with movie remakes. Even if they are decent compared to other new movies, does that make them good despite the originals being better?

If it's Something Older > Current Remake > Current New, you're best not watching anything current.

My family likes to watch new stuff but a lot of it hasn't been great lately. I'd prefer more sequels or new stories within franchises than remakes. Karate Kid Legends is a good example, easily among the best movies of the year. I really liked how almost every main character was teaching another character something. A good lesson that everyone has value. Plus the fighting and humor was good.

I finished Warrior Nun the other day. Ava was annoying and they added the gay bit at the end. The series was cancelled and may be rebooted by someone else that sticks closer to the comic. It was okay but not a must see. It could have been better if the lead was more realistic. A wishy washy superhero gets old pretty quick.

The Residence on Netflix was a surprisingly wholesome modern day mystery in the style of Agatha Christie set at the White House. It was pretty good and the sleuth is quite intelligent. There are a few things added in for the agenda like ‘the first man’ instead of the first lady. But what did you expect? We had one intimate scene but they never undressed and they kept you guessing and it ended well.

U.S. Farmers Turn Arsonists: 10 States Watch Their Farms Go Up in Flames!

The title caught my eye and decided to watch and the information was unsettling. Farmers are having it hard and many have given up or destroyed their crops because they can‘t afford to harvest or no profit will be made. Between inflation, higher prices, tariffs and deportations; this hasn’t been their year.

I started Paradise last night. It’s on the Hulu network and was recommended by a channel I watch. The government creates an underground city in anticipation of cataclysmic event. And it’s a smart city with a dome that was based on a typical place on earth with lots of technology. Most things are automated and they wear a black watch that allows them to pay by tap. There’s cameras and surveillance too. The days are manufactured with the requisite fake sun and night. And everyone who resides there was chosen. It’s really good and a second season is coming.

We finished Squid Games in one sitting and I liked the ending although it was sad. The series explored several themes with probable assumptions that were turned on their heads. The most obvious was poverty and exploitation often blamed on the rich. But we saw similar behaviors in the game among the players with numerous instances of greed, treachery, and barbarism too in spite of their station. They were given opportunities to quit and rarely did and a chance to split the winnings and leave safely and chose to do otherwise.

The lesson we come away with is the importance of our moral compass and the impact it has on our decisions and boundaries when times are good or otherwise. We’ll be true to our nature. While the majority believed they were different from the vips they were more alike than not.

And there’s the obvious question concerning games of death and the opportunity to win money to solve your problems. Would we go there or is it already taking place? There were scenes from The Purge movies that gave the impression there’s than meets the eye on that subject and it wouldn’t surprise me.

I was initially opposed to the show because of the theme but I’m glad I watched it. Seeing society up close is rarely pleasant but it’s good to know where you stand and to be challenged as well. Life is rarely black and white and there’s a lot of things that lead us onto the wrong paths and associations and we don’t see the outcome. And for some it‘s a warning to turn a new leaf and leave the other alone. Hopefully they got the message.

I didn't know you watched all this TV Bella. That makes me glad

I don’t usually but there’s things I need to explore that are referenced on television programs or movies. And they’re recommended pretty often by some of my channels along with books. It’s more like research than entertainment and I’m connecting thoughts but its fun. ;-)
