  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are you listening to?

Probably the best song on an album that left me shocked and appalled.

A friend came over, visibly upset. He said "You've got to hear this. Tell me if you can guess who it is." He put it on, and the most bizarre cacaphony erupted from my speakers.

He said, "You know who it is?"

"I have no idea who it is...and get it off my stereo!"

"It's Rez's newest."

"No way!"

It was Armeggedon Appetite of the Hostage album. The beginning of a weak spell for Rez, which they did not really recover from until Silent Screams.

I have all their releases bro , collected them all over the years (since about 1982) I love all their work and yes Silence Screams blew me away , and I have been searching for my "lost" copy on cd for some time now .......... I think Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore and Colors are my two fav albums by Resurrection Band ... seen em live once !

I wish I could play the banjo like that guy, very talented.

That's a fretless mountain banjo. Amazing how the old guys could play. My avatar is Hobart Smith a musical master who could play all kinds of instruments. He was a Baptist who play spirituals and hymns on the banjo, but because the Baptists didn't agree with using instruments, he was learned Holiness hymns and played them.

I had about ten years 'on the road' in which everything I owned pretty much had to fit into one backpack. (I wasn't down-on-my-luck-type homeless...worked a lot of seasonal natural resources jobs that kept me pretty mobile.) I used to own everything by Rez, but a lot of my music got pared down in those ten years...and time was not kind to the cassettes I did cart around! I'm slowly replacing pieces as they are released on CD. I became a Christian when DMZ was brand new, but I had already been listening to Rez for a few years through a Christian friend I had in high school.

I evtentually enjoyed most of the rest of the Hostage album, but I never warmed up to Armaggedon Appetite. What did you think of that song?

Here is an interesting video that I found on youtube. The video was taken from a computer game called Empire Total war. It is about 18th century strategy and warefare. There is a battle depicted between the British and the Prussians. If graphic video game war violence disturbs you do not click the link. The song the video is put to is interesting. The video is well pieced together. I think whoever did this has talent and did a good job and should get hired by someone to do things like this.

YouTube - Cluck Old Hen - Mandolin

My wife's grand father let me borrow his mandolin while I continue to shop for a new banjo. This Framus mando is about 35 years old.

[I did notice the mistakes but I've been working on my own...look Ma, no tab!
