  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not familiar with most of the heavy rock music being posted. Growing up I listen to hip hop but hip hop, rap, etc. died around 1995...about the time Wu Tang released it's double CD. When I first became a believer I pretty much stopped listening to music altogether but rediscovered music after some maturing in the faith.

I have about 350 full length albums on my iTunes from all genres except hip hop.

I have gone through periods where I didn't listen to a lot of music, but I have always loved music. Growing up I played guitar and listened to rock and heavy metal mostly but I also liked country. As time went by my tastes expanded. I don't listen to the radio though commercials drive me nuts.

No rap?

lol

I was in a dance crew and latter a rap group when I was a teen...before 8 Mile and white folks were considered acceptable rappers. (sorry MC Serch)

lol

Nope. No rap. I would rather hear nails on a chalkboard than rap. I absolutely hate it. It trips a nerve with me. I don't like top 40 pop Lady Gaga garbage either. It drives me nuts. That's another reason I don't listen to the radio.

I love rock, metal, blues, old soul and R&B, country, folk, bluegrass, classical, some new age inventive stuff...etc.

I don't really like gospel music. Most of it is too corny with the exception of very few songs. I worship through prayer and meditation on hearing the word. I get absolutely nothing from church music and find myself many times late for church so I can miss the music service because it grates on my nerves. Music doesn't make me think of God. Church music is just a ritual they make everyone participate in and call it worship. I really hate it when people start putting their hands in the air or when the crowd spontaneously stands during an especially group endearing song. I know the bible says to make a joyful noise to the Lord but today the emphasis seems to be mostly on noise and fake joy. Our song leader's actual title is worship minister. Silly.
