Yep! Have you been following the drummer thingy that's been going on lately with DT ?
No. I was a bit sad with Portnoy being out but if I remember what I read, it was something that may have been coming. I do remember reading how he was a bit offended that they are going to keep going. Sounds too pre-madonna to me but nevertheless, he is such an amazing drummer. I did remember hearing that he was going to do some type of projects elsewhere.

I am not too shocked with this either. I remember reading in Classic Rock's Prog Magazine, about a co-lining tour that Dream Theater did with my favorite band Opeth and another band called Elf. You compare those two bands especially and it is just, as amazing as both of them are, and I wish I could have seen a leg of that tour, to put them together to me shows that was something changing in Dream Theater. Not to mention, Portnoy filled in for Avenge Sevenfold's drummer during a tour. The success of Dream Theater can't argue that he did it for the money in my eyes, but that he did it cause he is into the 'heavier' side of prog music as well as your traditional prog rock/metal. I just read that he is in a project band with Symphony X's singer and doing something with Neal Morse. There's Transatlantic as well. So as long as he is busy in the music industry I am good with that. He's too good of a drummer to not be in music.

They just announced the new drummer. They did a 3-part 20-min documentary that is on RoadRunner's youtube where they audition 7 drummers and they announce who was chosen in the last one :) I really enjoyed the vids, they give a nice peak into the world of the band and how this stuff is done behind the scenes. Here's the link to part 1.. don't look at the comments if you don't wanna be spoiled.
