  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are you going to do?

God is omniscient and omnipotent. It's kinda difficult to avoid responsibility under those circumstances.
Difficult? It's downright impossible. The omnipotent creator of everything that is cannot hide from their responsibility. The buck stops at the top.

In the "word of BigChrisFilm" vs. "word of WorldFriction" competition, I'm placing my bet on "word of WorldFriction" to win, place, and show.

Yeah, I'm so confident, I'm going for the Trifecta Bet. :)

He was here, someplace on the site, a few hours ago but hasn't posted on this thread (or anywhere else) for 36 hours. And I know in the past he has abandoned a couple of threads he started.
I know from another forum that he has a habit of abandoning threads, but normally he just makes new ones. It's a vicious cycle.

Okay, I have a sin problem. And what am I going to do about it?

I guess I'll accept my responsibility, try to mitigate my mistakes and not make the same mistake again.

The only thing I'm doing different from the OP is I'm not trying to telepathically beg for forgiveness from a middleman out of fear of eternal punishment.

Actually.. I'd say you're doing everything different from the OP.

Here goes the blame game.:sigh: Why is it that God is the blame? The Bible is definitive in explaining that the first man was complete and not sinful. It wasn't until man sinned that he became corrupt. God made a perfect creation. Man's misuse of his free will is what caused his fallen spiritual and physical nature. To blame God would be to not acknowledge scripture. If you don't believe scripture, then you can at least acknowledge what is written from a Christian perspective. God is no more the blame than your parents are when you go out and rob a store, provided that they raised you to not rob stores.
Well, if the other poster was correct in saying that each and every act done on Earth is bad, then it was a bad idea to make it. God is supposedly omniscient, he knew what would happen.

Let's take original sin for example. God let a supposedly evil serpent into the garden to mess with Adam and Eve and trick them before they even understood what good and evil were. Was I there to tell Adam not to eat that apple? No, I was not. However, I am supposedly born in such a state that I am destined to eternal torture and am supposedly not able to overcome it alone? Who's fault is that? It's God's fault for setting up that system, assuming one believes in it.

I don't blame any gods personally because I don't believe in any of them to blame. I blame myself for my mistakes, then try to fix them and learn from them.

To address your bolded part here- yes it is very much the responsibility of the parents. Most violent crime and other felonies are done by people who come from poverty and often don't have active parents. It's considered very unusual for a child to grow up in a very good family atmosphere and then suddenly turn to serious crime. So bad parenting plays a huge role, especially if that parent is supposed to be omnipotent to begin with. If we take the Earth for example- is God a good or a bad parent? I don't see a reason to believe he exists, let alone decide whether he's done a good job or not. How good of parenting is that?

Thank you, Gardenia.

I think that I might have made the assumption that the OP also tries to mitigate his mistake and forgot to mention so. But I guess its the reason I'm trying to fix the mistake that shows, right?

Sorry, but he has cited passages from the Bible saying only faith is needed for salvation and works are unnecessary. But I read that at another forum and he's on global ignore right now.
