What are you giving up for lent?

Hey y'all!

I've been pondering the question and I haven't exactly ever “participated” in Lent. But I want to give up something that will bring me closer to the Father. I have chosen to give up my worst habit: swearing.

What about you? Anything at all big or small!

Yeah giving up swearing is a good idea. I hadn't come up with anything yet and tomorrow is Ash Wednesday so maybe I'll go with that also.

I have something I could give up permanently but it could be done as a small step to observe lent. I won't say what it is but thanks to this post it got me thinking about this.

giving up breakfast, and giving the money i would spend on food to a homeless teens charity in DC.

I have no idea what Lent is or the purpose for it. I'm not giving up anything for it and never have. I gave up swearing when I was 16 and not a Christian. I simply realized I didn't need it and that my vocabulary had matured to the point that I could talk without using it.

I dont really do Lent as a tradition but i am giving up my childhood idols/toys i still had hanging round the house. Either dumping them or taking them to the op shop.
