  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Had a typical Saturday today - worked, then had a music rehearsal for church tomorrow morning. It's getting rather cold here where I live at the moment, and my feet are feeling it...^_^

I hated having cold feet in the winter, because I'm more sensitive there. And I get really cranky if they're cold or wet. I wear socks as much as I can, and wear slippers around the house. I had this pair of wooly felt clogs (or mules) that is SO warm, my feet would get quite warm. :D

Now it's getting more summer here...had a couple of HOT days, now it's nice, cool and cloudy, that helps me in getting my bedroom cleaned up....had clothes and boxes everywhere, like a tornado hit it. It's a miracle that I had it like this for 7 months and not once I tripped over them in the middle of the night. I'm SO fed up with it...it got to the breaking point: I'M GOING TO CLEAN MY ROOM! RAWR! ^_^ ^_^

Haven't had too much of a busy day so far - had church and was on music, and have a dinner to go to at church too this evening before the service :)

Yep -we dropped in to the one just outside the airport in Sydney last time we were there.

Today it took me ages to relinquish the wearing of my brand new fluffy pjs (they are SOOOO warm), but we went to the coast for the day.

Very nice - we also won 7 nights accomodation in Thailand, which (depending on how much flights and transfers and all that works out to be) we may just take for our honeymoon early next year.

It was absolutely gorgeous down on the beach - beautiful, with lots of people.

I don't blame you - it was all very wearing, from all accounts! :)

And don't stress, we only won yesterday! :)

Well, today has been a bit of a sad one. Work was all right, but we got the news around 7pm that Grandma died at 6:30.

We are all getting together to discuss funeral arrangements tomorrow, so it's not going to be a particularly nice day.

Thank you for any prayers you could send to our family - particularly my mum.

Thank you so much,

Sasch

Prayers to your family Sascha; hugs are also coming your familys' way, I went through all that two weeks ago.

I went to the big smoke, with my youngest, to the physo and was told she will grow out of her walking problem as she gets older.....that was a relief to hear..

Sascha, I found this poem not long after my grandmother died seven years ago, and it has been a real favourite of mine ever since. Hope you find some comfort in it also!

THE ROSE BEYOND THE WALL
Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God’s free light,
Fed by morning dew,
Shedding it’s sweetness day and night.

As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly raising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Through which there shone a beam of light.

Onward it crept with added strength,
With never a thought of fear or pride;
It followed the light through the crevice’s length
and unfolded itself on the other side.

The light , the dew, the broadening view were found
the same as they were before;
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing it’s fragrance more and more.

------------------------------------------

Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
And make our courage faint and fall?
The rose still grows beyond the wall,

Scattering fragrance far and wide,
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forever more.

Sorry about your Grandma, Sasch. Lost my mum (fondly known as Gram) November, 2003. So I know how your Mum must feel. My Mum was 83 years young and I'm still trying to cope with the manner of her death and her suffering from cancer. She was so Christian in her outlook and her regard, care and consideration toward her fellows, she had 2 jobs, helped all the 'old; people, she had time for everybody, she even regularly did my banking and shopping. All the kids adored her. She was always so 'there'. I miss her. I saw her every day of my life. How can she no longer be 'here'?
So sorry to you Sasch and my sympathy to your mum.

Thanks for your sympathy guys...

Yesterday was actually a lovely day. All my aunts and uncles were there, as well as some of my cousins, and we all sat down and talked about the service with the funeral director, and then with the ministers.

My cousin was the most teary out of the lot of us - and she was probably the least close to my Nan.

Funeral's on Friday. I wasn't feeling really well yesterday as it was, so I've taken the rest of the week off of work.

Thanks for all the hugs and the prayers - we know she lived a wonderfully long life, and served Jesus with all her heart - but it is sad knowing she won't be around to celebrate our special milestones anymore (in the flesh, anyway).
